Does anyone know when Zipper's is going to come out with their auto tune for my 08 fly-by-wire ultra classic?  Has anyone had experience with the autotune on their machine good or bad?

I've got a Zipper's Autotune Thundermax on my '07 SEUC & love it.  (although its not fly-by-wire)

When I talked to them, they said Spring.  The concept sounds great, but there seem to be some negative impressions on the site.

Added my name yesterday to the waiting list of 1500 plus.  The guy I talked to on the phone said they're in the final stages of getting it out the door.  Just like MOCO stuff though, not sure if I want the first iteration of it.  I'm leaning toward the TTS Mastertune myself, but that's because I can still use the stock narrow-band sensors instead of using the wide band that comes with the TMax.  I bought a set of RB Racing LSR 2-1 Spyder's and an O2 Dual Display.  The O2 display will only recognize and work with narrow-band.  I have a '08 FLHRSE4.  Good luck with your choice ...

Much has been written on this site about Zippers and a great deal of that comes from people who have no personal experience, but know of difficulties their friends may have encountered regarding customer service. I have been dealing with Zippers for almost 15 years and I like their products. I have used the T-Max for several years and personally find it to be the best system available.  I installed the Tmax with Auto Tune when it was first released and continued to install the free upgrades as the product was further refined. I was very satisfied with it and will likely install one again when the TBW version is released. The T-Max is endorsed by some very reputable builders to include T-Man Performance http://www.tmanperformance.com/tmax.htm.

I used the Daytona Twin Tec TCFI (which is identical to TMAX) on my 07 and absolutely loved it. Very easy to setup. It is actually a bit fun to 'walk' the ignition through the learning process for final tune. I've heard one person make argument against the wide band sensor used with this set up, but to this day I have not found a signal person experiencing the failures he states. Every once in awhile you need  to set the bias voltage on the sensors with Twin Scan due to the aging of the sensors, (not due to failures). One plus to this set up, your getting a true auto tune in wide band, in other words below 14.1 AFR. You can play around with other SERT & related setups, but IMO the best 'performance' tune in this scenario is a dyno and open loop. Keep in mind folks, this is my opinion and not meant to start a battle.

I will comment as someone who has personal experience with the TMax, autotune and Zippers.  Long story short - Zippers is the least customer friendly supplier I have ever experienced.  Phone call after phone call not returned....  Emails unanswered...  Complete rudeness when contact was made...  Promises unfulfilled...  Completely unacceptable communication.  I deal with suppliers and vendors every day.  I have exceptional working relationships with virtually every supplier in my (work) industry.  I have had no problems with working with any supplier in the bike world - with the single exception of Zippers.

I had high hopes in the TMax/autotune technology - and still believe this technology is the future of industry.  My experience with the TMax was in mid 2007 - maybe the bugs were yet to be worked out.  If I ever go down this road again, it will not be with a Zippers supplied product - not because of my experience with the product - but rather because of my experience with Zippers.

I have been using ThunderMax with closed loop on my on my Cross Bones (103 ci, 10.1 c/r) with very satisfying results.

I have been using the TMAT on my 2007 Ultra 103 since January 07 when I installed it.. Install was straight forward and easy. Read the instruction manual twice, 2 times, and then do the install. The bike is cooler, runs better, and I have changed mufflers several times. Currently running Screaming Eagle Touring Performance 4" with Fullsac 2' baffles I put in them...

Customer service can be an issue there but I did get a custom map from them for my 103" engine. Bike runs like a scalded cat, has 21,000 miles on it in 2 summers and hope to put another 11,000 on this summer. Never had a problem with the TMAT and I just "set it and forget it"..... OH... 39-41mpg depending on how hard I push.... Bike does not wake up until I hit 3000 rpm....

I appreciate all of the replies!  This helps me to narrow my research down because there are more positive replies than negative.  Skunk, do you have a way to kill the dead area below 3K with some new mapping or another way?  BTW, I have a BC Geralomy intake and D&D Fatcat 2:1 loud baffle both purchased from recommendations from CVOHarley!

I had a Zippers 113" in my last CVO along with a Thundermax w/ AT. The package was ok, but never did make the power that I thought it should or that others made with the same package. I will say that the motor and TMAX ran well, just not to where I thought it should. When I turned to Zippers for help, it was non-existant and they would never return calls or emails. I even made several trips to their booth at Sturgis with promises of help and calls back, to only be dissapointed again. I would say that the TMAX is a decent device -IF- you have somebody in your area that knows how to tune with it. I ended up taking mine off and putting a SERT back on because nobody around me knew enough about it and Zipper's would not help. I guess my problem was mostly with Zipper's customer service and therefore I will never go that route again. I think the product it self is probably decent. My 2 cents worth.
