Head Light - hole from a stone
« on: April 05, 2009, 11:28:22 AM »

It could have been worse!!!!

Riding to the local HD store yesterday, a stone from an oncoming car flew into the air - I ducked, but the stone hit my middle head light square on - the result, a hole in the middle about the size of a quarter and cracks all over the head light.

So, when I get to the dealer, they tell me the headlight is a "unit" and the replacement is $525 - YIKES........  I only have 700 miles on the bike.

Glad it didn't hit the fairing and put a big dent in it.

Your comments on the "unit" comment from the HD dealership are welcome.

Next Monday (13th) is our monthly HOG meeting - for an hour after each meeting, the store gives 20% discounts to HOG members - Guess what I might be buying!

That's the price for the complete HID headlight kit.  Do the 09 SEUCs even have HID headlights stock (I didn't think they did)?

In any case the reflector housing is available separately; or art least they used to be.  Whether it be for the halogen or the HID light.  I've had occasion to have them in hand in the last couple of years.  This sounds like a good excuse to order a parts manual so you don't have to rely on the guy at the parts counter.

The parts catalog is the only way to go. I bought one when I took delivery of my bike. Alot of the parts people don't seem to know what they are talking about.
In fact, at my dealership, most don't even own a Harley. Most are only making 8-9 dollars an hour.

524.95 is the price for the housing, ballast, wires, bulbs etc to convert a standard bike to hid

they are SCREWING YOU   >:(

all you need is the new housing

the part for 164.95 is the price for the same housing as above, wires, bulbs to covert a standard bike to dual bulb [nearly as good but not quite]

AND THE ANSWER IS..................

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448767321&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309042516&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309042516&bmUID=1240246594592&bmLocale=en_US

With my HOG chapter discount and a gift certificate that I had, my cost was just under $100.

I did the quick install yesterday.

you guys are all over theplace there are two things goin here. first off the HID bulb set is a complete bulb housing ballast and harnesses to convert it. just did this on mine and it is worth every penny, not only does it look cool but a huge difference in the amount of light. if I'm riding next to someone with a stock light it really shows. the HID IS NOT stock on the SEUC, what is stock is the dual bulb light system that is 2 halogen type bulbs one for high and 1 for low i think they are H11 and H18 but the manual tells you, this is an upgrade from the stock 1 bulb light open the EG series. If you still need that bulb I might be getting rid of the OE piece
