Eagle Horn Cover
« on: April 05, 2009, 08:12:20 PM »

Another mod...

Got the chrome eagle horn cover with LED eye from Chrome Dome Motorcycle Products.  They offer 10% off in the vendors section.  I did not (my bad) follow their instructions to get the discount due to being in a hurry at the time.  Put a comment in the paypal payment asking if they still honored it, and lo and behold Dennis gave me a paypal credit anyway.   :2vrolijk_21:  It was listed out of stock for up to 2 weeks at the time I ordered it, but I went ahead and ordered it...this was a Wednesday.  Next day he replied via email that they were in stock now. Received it 2 days later.  Great service and truly a remarkable, heavier-duty and bigger than expected piece with very nice detail.  The chrome is flawless IMO.

Ordered it with the red LED eye to match the engine area red light pods already intalled, and of course the ruby red bike.  I ordered their wiring kit with on/off switch, fuse, etc. but decided to wire it into the series of light pods so they'd all be on one switch and dimmer (rheostat).  I went to my local dealer and they had some extra pre-made wiring plugs leftover from previous light pod installs.  Gave me a whole bag of connectors, wires, etc.  I just cut-off one of their connectors, soldered on the eagle LED wiring, shrinkwrapped it and plugged it into the last light pod.

Works great and looks very nice IMO.  You'll also notice the SE shift linkage purchased on here from Puzzled.  It is a very nice piece as well, and I think the 2 look natural on this bike.  Whaddya think?

forgot to mention that at the time I ordered it (3/25), I got a free t-shirt as advertised from them.  It was icing on the cake so to speak. :P

Hi there Eagle Soars

I think that is a very neat job, like the eagle horn cover I wonder if they sell to the UK? If this HD remains a keeper I amy well buy one of them. I like the linkage to but is it a solid job as they take some movement etc....

Nice One

Hey BigDerek,
Sorry it took me so long to reply...been away from the site for a few weeks.  It wouldn't hurt to ask them about shipping to the UK as I have no idea on restrictions, etc.  Their customer service was top notch.

The shift linkage is pretty solid but it does have one area on the lettering that concerned me cause it seems just a little thin.  I only have about 1600 miles on the scoot with the linkage but have not noticed any problems yet.  For now, I keep the stock linkage in the bottom of a saddle bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, along with the correct wrenches to change it just in case it breaks on me.  I may be a little over cautious, but I was a boy scout and was taught to be prepared.  I'm sure there's others on this site that have had this linkage for many more miles than I have that could chime in on their long-term quality.

Good luck,
Eagle Soars

Looks good. I bought basically the same cover at a bike event & installed a red LED in the eye myself. When I get around to it I'll post a few pics..
