Engine Transmission Interface Cover
« on: October 17, 2005, 10:10:57 PM »

Has anyone found a chrome cover to cover the area between the transmission and the gearcase cover that will work with a hydraulic clucth?  The H-D parts catalog has 3 "Engine Transmission Interface covers", but none work with a hydraulic clutch.   :(

I realize that air cleaner cover looks kind of Sportster-esque.  But I like it better every time I see one  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I have found that principle to be true quite often. The MoCo will say something won't work and with the proper amount of verbolics applied, she'll go! [smiley=beerchug.gif]
Heck it even worked thin Mrs. We's solo tour pack rack and the Corbin seat, Corbin said no way and after three hours of re-inventing the King James Cursing Bible, I got 'er on there! [smiley=drink.gif]

But please do tell if you get a part that works! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

It'll fit.

But, you will not be able to get the trans dipstick out.

I put it on mine and like it. Whenever I change the oil I leave it off for a few days and when the level is set I put the cover back on, only takes a few minutes.

Scroll down on this page for before and after pics.

Hey Don, no, "it" is the HD part.

I had to move the oil line a bit (push), and you have to kind of "twist" it around the clutch hose, but it only takes a few seconds to position it. I can probably get it off, check the oil, back on and torqued in under ten minutes.

And I do use an inch pound torque wrench every time, figured I already had the tools, may as well use it since were talking 'bout aluminum here [smiley=sweatdrop.gif]

Hi Duane,

I have ben trying to get the transmission engine interface to work with the full chrome oil vent line as opposed to the one that came on the 04's.

Did you bend the line first or once it is on the bike?

Thanks,

Fred

I used the Kuriakyn one and with a little bit of filing on the backside with a round file and a slight bending of the hydraulic line it fit and worked fine. I installed a small strip felt on the backside of the cover to ease the vibration on the line.

Don't recall, but - since I just took it off tonight to change the oil I'm guessing I just tweaked it as needed until I had the clearance.

I think in another thread I mentioned the upper screw bosses breaking. I have since "Dremeled" both of the upper screw bosses that went over the upper trans cover.
I am holding the cover on with just the 2 side cover screws. Works good.
