There were some posts on this issue but I can't recall where.  You might want to try the search function to find them.  You can probably find out what happened.  I suspect it's a warranty issue.

While my bike was in for the 110 makover. The dealer noticed how bad paint was flaking off of rear cylinder.
They ordered another rear jug, and the whole works, and turned it into warranty.
We have now noticed the front is starting to flake slightly. We have touched it up, but are watching it closely to possibly turn it into warranty as well.

Seems to be a common problem. >:(. The few I've seen have been covered under warranty if it can be seen from 10 ft. away...............  :sauer024:

I have an 08 SERK and have powercoating coming off both cylinder and head fins. I also have coating coming off both sides of the cases. Dealership is shaking their heads, and had Rep look at it. Rep denied warranty, and says it is a regional atmosphere issue?? The 110 is sitting right beside my completely restored 1972 LT-1 Corvette, (insulated garage), no problems with the Vette. I am now waiting for reply from MoCo...any advice? Thanks Muddy

Sound like the bull$h*t the area rep gave me when the pinstriping chipped off of the wife's 07 FLHRSE3. I was told that I over buffed the fender and wore the paint off. They finally replaced account I found 6 fingers print under the clear. It was hard to deny that issue.

Regional atomsperhe issues!!! What a crock. So can't ride the bike in the state you purchased it account the atomsphere is in the wrong phase?

Thanks for the reply...amazing huh? Nice find, regarding the prints under the clear... Seems if I rember right (duh), know to classic car buyer's...to try and buy cars from Cali, Ariz, Texas ect. for their dry climates. No rust issue states. Well to a mim. anyway! Muddy

I have an 08 SEUC and the paint is coming off the oil filter housing and on the right top eng case. Cylinders were replaced by dealer because paint was coming off cylinders.

Desert... Was the power coating isolated to the cylinder fins? Mine is coming off both...cylinders and head fins. What are they saying about the right top eng case...can you post pic? I will tomorrow. I bet it is in the same location! Thanks Muddy

Muddy. They replaced the cylinders because of all the oil that leaked and it burned the powder coating. The Moco at first just wanted my dealer to touch it up but it looked like hell! My dealer sprung for new cylinders for me. As for the oil filter housing and R/H Top engine case the Moco will only touch it up. Next time I take it in they are going to take care of that. The only other alternative is to split the cases and replace and the Moco wont authorize that.
