New Member - Hello from Tulsa
« on: April 09, 2009, 01:44:07 PM »

I just ordered and will be picking up a 2009 FLHR with a 110 kit on it. I hope I am allowed to be here while not a true CVO owner. I was wondering if the 110 kits have had any overheating problems. As I understand the new frame addresses the heat issues, and the changes some things to the 110 kit and CVO for 2009. I look forward to learning about the 110, I am excited about getting it Wednesday. I bought it in Kansas City, MO, so will be riding it to Tulsa the same day (250 miles) Any advice to be sure I have a trouble free trip?   Thanks!

David

:welcome_005:  Welcome to the site, David :welcome_005:  from  :sunny:  sunny So. Cal.  :sunny: and the CVO gang!  :vrolijk_6:  Great choice! :2vrolijk_20: Any glide is a fine ride, esp. with a 110!  :2vrolijk_20:  We'll try to help you spend even more  :ons_4: $$$$ on it!   :ons_4:   :bananarock:   :mango:   :huepfenjump3:

You'll have to read up here on heat and "cats," esp. dead ones.   :coolblue:  But the 110 is alive and well.  Is yours a crate motor (built as a 110 or kit(modified)?  That could make a difference.

You'll will find some heat with the 110, but the 96's I rode also had heat issues.  There are several different steps you can take to reduce the heat.  Your choice.  As far as getting her home, just take it easy.  The first 500, stap below 2500 (I think) and out of 6th.  Vary your speed and don't set the cruise coming back down 44.  I've always found scooter engines perform better if allowed to warm up before doing much with them, so I'd wait until I can feel some heat in the rocker boxes before I started riding home, but that's me.  Because of the engine constraints, I'd want to take the back roads home and wait for a good riding day!  Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the site.  In spite of it's problems, I do enjoy riding mine.  But I've done the oil leak thing 3 times now and that coupled with the heat issues do make me question why I'm buying HD.
