Anybody put a tourpack on their RG
« on: April 11, 2009, 07:23:20 PM »

I am waiting on my orange and black RG. I want to get a tourpak for it. I was thinking about getting one off Ebay and painting it. A friend told me this morning that you can't get a color match outside HD. Is this true? If so how much for a colored pack? Is the detach kit available? Same docking kit as the 08'? I know the detach kit is different. I guess I will sell mine. I know someone out there knows the answers to these questions. Thanks, T.

Yes only obtain from HD,approx. $ 2500.00 installed.  Or wait, most likely if HD does the SE in 10 the pak will be most likely be included, at of course an additional cost.  :pepper:

That seat looks great on there.  I think that's the first photo I've seen of the seat.  I only saw the back of the tourpack before.

Larry:   Who did you get to paint your tour pack?  Did you just use someone local or find someone else?
Thanks,
Steve

I had a Local guy do it, he works for Saturn/GM and is a friend of mine. He did the lowers, and tour pak. all in with ghost flames 900, but said next one will be more. He does inner fairings, helmets, etc.
He has openings in his schedule, but not many

I have to say it, after seeing those pics of your bike, I have to come to grips with the fact that I now like your bike more than mine.  This is coming from someone that was never a Road Glide fan in the past.  That is one awesome looking bike.

I guess mine is fine, as long as I'm not seen side by side with you.  You would steel all my thunder.  Honestly, I'm quite impressed with what you've done with your bike.  The guy I met in Pompano Beach had the lowers on his also, but adding that seat and the Ultra tourpack puts that bike off the charts.  I wish I could go out and buy a second bike now, but I don't think that would be a good option for me at this point.  There are a lot of really nice bikes on this forum, but I think yours stands out.  I think I'm going to consult with you before doing anything to my next bike, or probably before I do anything else to this one.  You've got some great ideas and a fine paint job certainly helped make it what it is.

LarryB, I forgot to ask but I assume you are completely satisfied with the quality and workmanship of the paint your friend did?  Thanks again.

Very happy with the quality of the work, I guess if I paid a couple k i would be more retentive. At first i felt the stripes on the tp needed more of an angle, but after seeing the SEUC, it's right on. I got touch up paint in all the colors for when my boot hits the lower.
