New V-Tune Instructions to Tune Without a Dyno Manual
« on: April 12, 2009, 09:17:33 AM »

Here is a new version of the V-Tune step by step outline I did a while back, with the help of Vic, Steve, and my Wife we have made the manual more descriptive and easier to tune with.

Thanks Doc, I loaded the map you sent me last week. Bike runs great. still a little pop on cold start up. Seems a little rich, am going to do another V-tune session this week to hit more cells. will send you the file for your examination. :2vrolijk_21:

Doc,

How are they coming with an upgrade for bikes without sensors to move to sensors with a new ecm and narrow bands ?   Any luck on using the older SERT's made by Steve Cole for Harley with the New TTS Master tune Software?

Doc,

Thanks a ton for the effort to simpify the use of TTS... It helped me so much and was a quick route for sure after using Twinscan/wego for a couple of years (and I really liked the TS unit)... The bike runs great and is soooo much cooler that I can't even believe it.  :apple: :cucumber: :bananarock:

Steve

I hope you include this document with every new TTS tuner. I just got lost trying to read the indepth help files. They are well written, but it's just too much data for me to grasp. I really needed the "click here" kind of document... PS, I LOVE the TTS. Thanks for making such a great tool.. :2vrolijk_21:

I know there has been a lot of work done on the upgrade for the older SERT to TTS and 02 sensor kit,  however I have no idea when you will see it....sorry.

Thanks for your kind words and I'm glad you liked the new instruction sheet. TTS  is in the process of writing a manual also and believe me it will be a lot better than the one I posted here. The first draft of TTS 's manual had 78 pages and I think Steve is down to 68 pages so as you can see it will be in great detail form loading the software to loading the final map.

Doc,

My 09 StreetGlide was converted to the stage II 103 kit with the 255 cams. They put cat mufflers on it from the dealer. I used the stock mufflers and had Steve at fullsac install his baffles. Even with the Cats on it, the engine (and oil) temps were way up there, even on 50 degree days. I'm pretty sure it would have cooked on a 103 degree August day... The TTS cooled it way down and it runs great now too. Whatever map the dealer used was no where close. I'm wondering if they just left the stock 96 map on it.

Anyway, the TTS was quick and easy. I'll probably go back and do VTune again once the summer heat gets here, just to see if it changes anything.... I'll attempt to read all the help files before then, just so I have a better understanding of it all.

Thanks again, JB

Can you explain the concept of "blending"?  I understand how it is done, but I'm not really sure why.   It seems that out at the right side of the VE table, I am actually substantially lowering some VE values.  I know that I probably haven't and won't hit those cells too much (if ever) in my riding, so I'm just curious as to why go to all of the trouble of resetting the values to match the last good cell reading from V-Tune.

First off, to blend, you need, a blender

Not the expert, but I assume the reasons for blending are because you will probably never actually use those other cells in reality, but the ECU as I understand it doesn't necessarily pick just one cell setting. I think it blends the difference of two cells if it is calling for data between two cells. That's just my assumption...  I know with other systems like TS/Wego, I have done hundreds of data runs under all kinds of conditions and different riding styles but never gotten data in a lot of those same areas. Maybe on a dyno you could hit those cells, I'm not sure. :nixweiss:

Thanks.  I went ahead and blended my tables.

The TTS manual is in the final stages and it will be placed on the update service once it's done. My guess would be sometime next week. We have tried to make it as easy as possible by putting things in sections, so if you do not need to know something you can just skip right by it. It has lots screen shots so you can read while looking at the picture of what your trying to do. It's right at 70 pages long, so it's a bit longer than the ones that Doc did.
