3x5 flag mount
« on: April 12, 2009, 09:58:58 AM »

Hey guys,

A group of us are heading to DC for the RFTW next month. We have been trying to figure out how to mount a 3x5 flag to each of our bikes...so far, not too many good ideas for my bike. One guy's already works, he mounted a plate of steel to the bottom of his fender. Roadking, so it fits. (I will post pictures of this later).

Dad's Heritage however, is proving to be a bit tricky. We determined last night that we can fashion a flat piece of steel from fender strut bolt to fender strut bolt, and mount the pole on top of his passenger pillion, letting it rest on his tourpak, or on his T-bag that is sometimes atop his passenger pillion.

Now, the tricky ones...

For mine I have purchased a second sissy bar, and have intentions of welding to it, maybe round metal stock, or square metal stock. I had a great idea with using a post hole digger handle, which is square on the bottom, and fits the stock I found at the same hardware. The square gives more rigidity for faster speeds, but I am still not 100% sure what I am going to do for the actual flag mounting to the pole(posthole digger handle).

For the FLTRSE1, we have nothing. His has the chopped tourpak that came with it, and he uses all of the time.

Does anyone have any ideas or maybe have done something like this to yours?

Thanks!!

Scroll down this page and you will see mounts that you can add to bikes with saddlebags.

Rivco sells one of the same brackets but has better pictures

Join the PGR - go on a mission you will see plenty of ideas for flag mounts, some good, some not so good, some would rival NASA engineers  ;D
