Please help the newb!
« on: April 15, 2009, 08:18:40 AM »

The chopped tour pack was stolen from my 2001 SERG. I recently purchased the correct replacement at the last cycle swap in Long Beach however it did not come with the rack. Im having a very hard time finding the correct Harley quick detach rack that it came with that has the leather coverings on the side brackets...shown in photo. Does anyone have any old catalogs or suggestions on where to look? The dealer doesnt have a clue. :nixweiss:

You should be able to find those in the SERG parts supplement. I'd look, but I gave those to the guy that bought the bike. The stealer should be able to find them.

Somestimes if you look at the SE suppliment book the parts and numbers for se only bikes will be in there and the dealer can do a parts search to see if a dealer has them still in stock. worst case someone could use you pics to make you covers. ride safe jdo

Pg 66-67 of the 01 SERG parts manual (which is part#99428-01) lists the rack as 53054-00 and the filler strips are 53189-00 rt and 53190-00 left with support plates as 53198-00 rt and 53199-00 left.

That 53054-00 number John cited is in the parts manual but the manual is wrong.  That's actually a dead number.

Many parts counters now will try and sell you the newer detachable rack from 2005.  It replaced the older one discussed because of cracking issues.  The newer one will not accept the side covers though.

Try 53107-96 for the old style rack.  It's still an active part number.  Just looked and found one on eBay also.  About half the cost of ordering a new one.  The side covers are all still good numbers to order from Harley.
