Flamed exhaust shields

Put these on this week end. Had to modify the front shield to clear the cam cover.. Other than that they fit well.

It's a beautiful October day. Riding tomorrow towards Jasper. Will be 30 degrees in the morning. Thank god for heated gear. Got to go and wash my scooter during the day so it won't freeze before blow drying. Ain't it fun.

Go to the Harley D site. Click on touring - exhaust. Box say's they won't fit on 05's. True. That's why I had to modify the front pipe by the cam cover. Simple job.

Flamed Exhaust Heat Shield Kit

Used a high speed grinder, I looped the shield right where it interfered with the cam cover. Actuall fits better than the original since this loop I cut does not go lower past the cam cover like the original one. Just put it in place and used a felt pen marking the space needed and taking the metal off bit by bit, rechecking the fit so I wouldn't take too much off.

BA, if you've ever got that shield off again for some reason you might want to spray that ground edge with a high temp clearcoat.  Since it's been worked on the chrome no longer wraps fully around the bare steel inside.  Edges like that can entrain moisture and it's possible to get rust starting to form under the chrome.  Might make it bubble up sometime later down the road.
