Extended Service Plan without tire and wheel option?
« on: April 21, 2009, 10:22:58 AM »

I just got off the phone with Jenni at Tri-City HD, looking to get the price (20% off) of the extended service plan for my new SEUC (Silver and Blue)that is supposed to arrive in a few weeks.

She informs me that they can not sell the tire and wheel option . . . it's against the law in Ohio.

Whats up with that?   :nixweiss:  :nixweiss:

Other than that, how did you do on the extended warranty?

I haven't purchased yet, as I don't have a VIN, manufacture date is supposed to be 4/20/09.

The price is right though, less 20% as advertised, for being a member of this great forum   :2vrolijk_21:

Brewnut, the wheel/tire package is available to those living outside of Ohio. I purchased from Jenni @ Tri County about a month ago. She can not sell the W/T package to those who live in OHIO. You don't live in Ohio, so you should be able to purchase it.

Brewnut, definitely call her back and make it clear you're from out of state.

Well I just called Jenni back . . . .  no misunderstanding . . . she can NOT sell the tire and wheel option.  It doesn't matter if you live out of state or not.  She said she had done it recently and it got her in trouble.

The wierd thing is why would the state of Ohio outlaw something like this?   :nixweiss:  :nixweiss:

I must have been the one she did it for lately as I just purchased it from her last month. Wonder if the coverage is still valid. Guess I better call her.

The state differs on the interpretation of extended service plan vs. insurance. Or so I'm told. Bunch of b.s. in my view but it's, so I'm told, too small of an item for corporate to get into it.

Bribe36, the wheel and tire coverage cost $292 for 7 years and the 7 year extended warranty for the bike cost $1195. My local dealer wouldn't even discuss extended warranty after I told him what Tri-County offered. The price of these plans is totally negotiable and you don't have to buy it from where you bought the bike, although that might be preferable.

Screamin, you're probably right. It may be that the insurance lobby got their shorts in a knot or if the state views the extended warranties as insurance , then they want to be able to regulate it and probably make money off it.

Brewnut.....look at the other dealers listed on this website that discount over the phone or internet and check them out...it is an Ohio thing.

I called Chicago Harley Davidson (listed on this site as one of the dealers offering members 20% off HD parts and accessories) and they quoted me a price ($1609) for the 7 year ESP, with the Tire and Wheel Option on a '09 SEUC.

If you call ask for Perry, he's a good guy.  He told me any of the dealers can discount the price of the extended service plan if they want to, but many won't.

So I told the guys at my local dealership, who were asking $1859 . . . they said . . . . "How are they selling it for that price??" . . .  long story short, they eventually agreed to give me the same price.

Thanks for the help Perry!   :2vrolijk_21:
