Look'n to buy something that fits
« on: April 24, 2009, 12:40:15 PM »

I've been reading some threads and like what I hear about the FXR's. I'm 6'1" 240lbs and some bikes seem a little small. I have been looking at baggers which seem to fit better but I would like to have a little more sport. I sat on my buddys 03 Night Train my knees hit the bars. Don't know if you move the contols forward more. He and I talked about it but he's 5'7" so no problem for him. This is a big purchase so I wan't to be happy with what I get. Dont really want to go something like Honda ST1000, which is sport and touring.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, sizdip!  It would be helpful to know what kind of riding you're interested in... long distance v. around town.   The new frame on the 09's makes them handle very well.   Funny, once you get used to a bagger... everything else seems small.  (5' 11", 185 lbs.)

Let's see:  Big guy + long rides + two up + comfortable for girl =  Bagger.   That's a no brainer.

Welcome from the SF Bay Area!

A Road Glide (Preferably a SERG) or a Street Glide should fit the bill for your dimensions. I'm only 5'7", 165lbs but I LOVE my bagger. I have a 2001 Fat Boy that is tricked out and I never even touch it anymore (it's sits with a battery tender now)! It's nothing like a Honda ST1000. It's a HARLEY. You'll know the difference...

 Welcome
What part of Oregon are you in?
We were in Latus a couple of days ago and they had 3 S.E.'s on the floor. Didn't look at the mileage on them.
1-Vrod  Bad choice for 2up, good choice for 1
2-Ultra has all the whistles and bells. Tell the wife you'll never have to add anything to it  :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
3-Roadglide

We are having a GTG in Hood River July 13-17 hope you can make it. http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=23713.0
