SERG Spun Gauge Glare
« on: April 24, 2009, 07:44:16 PM »

I don't know if it is MY position on the bike, but the glare off the spun gauges sucks.
Does anyone know of a good way to tone it down without switching out the gauges or riding into the sun all the time?  8)

Would it be presumptuous of me to ask just how you know this to be so?   :nixweiss:   :nixweiss:  On second thought, never mind!   :nervous:   :nervous:

Raptor your the first one to complain of this.  It must be global warning.  I've noticed glare but it has not bothered me.  Sorry!

Must be the glazed look in my eyes! :-X

I do ride with perscription transition eye glasses, maybe if I wear shades it'll cut down on it?  It is only with the sun at my back. 8)

I use the transition lenses as well and there are times they are just not dark enough, esp.  late in the day driving into the setting sun.  (So much for being a hero).  I like not having to switch glasses, though.   :nixweiss:

Have seen the grey in person and own the orange but have not had the honor of seeing a yellow one up close and personal.

I have noticed the glare at certain times of the day.  It does not really bother me, but I can not really read the gages at those times.

Roger on the glare when the sun's behind you Raptor. Between the gauges and the bright paint it's too much occasionally. That's a big reason I changed out the fairing pocket doors to flat black.

If you let them get dirty enough, I've heard the glare goes away or you could paint them with primer.  Sorry, just had to be a wisenheimer! :orange:

Tint the glass on your gauges.

Tint...that just might work.

It's not that the glare is blinding, it just makes it impossible to read the speedo and with a bright orange ticket magnet and my heavy throttle hand I can get in a lot of trouble quick! :huepfenlol2:

I experienced the same thing. I believe it's caused by the angle of the gauges and how the sun is hitting them producing a glare. No big deal, just part of riding. . .
