Supertrapp IDS Slip Ons
« on: October 26, 2005, 05:05:50 PM »

I put on a set of the Supertrapp IDS (internal disc system), slip ons last night. I was going to get the fishtail ends 'till I saw them in a photo on a bike. (Too damn long). I also didn't like the tapered cone tips that came with the mufflers, so I tried the double groove billet end caps from my screamin' eagle 2 piece slip ons, but they fit very loose.
I was wondering what to do next when I remembered that the end caps off of our stock pipes wouldn't fit the screamin' eagle mufflers. So I decided to try those. PERFECT FIT. One of the three bolt holes in the stock tip even lines up with the single retaining hole in the Supertrapp muffler. Fits real nice and snug, just like the Supertrapp tips.
So now I have the V & H true dual head pipes with Supertrapp IDS mufflers with stock FLHTCSE2 billet end caps.
An added plus is if the mufflers ever start to yellow or blue, the stock muffler heat shields will fit right on there.
I'll try to post a couple of pics when I get home.

Mobe, if the stock muffler heat shields will fit the Supertrapp IDS mufflers, then they must be the same dimensions as the stock mufflers.  What type of sound do you get with this set up?  Compared to Reinharts, maybe?    [smiley=nixweiss.gif] spyder

That's the great thing about the supertrapp system. Whatever sound you want. You can add discs for more flow and sound, subtract for more torque and quiet or pull off the disc cap for straight through sound like the rineharts. And you can do it without taking the mufflers off.

Mobe.......those look great!  Thanks for the pictures.  I always loved the looks of those stock billet end caps, was sorry that I couldn't run 'em.  Now, you've figured out a good way to have our cake and eat it too.  Good Deal!   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] spyder

Yeah; I really like this one, it's got those removable "wings" so tha I can drive the bike onto the lift without worrying about putting my foot down off of the lift and biting the dust.

Where can I get that lift? I'm searching the internet as I type. Love the pipes too, I also, wanted to keep the stock look, but get some sound and performance. I'm looking into thosse pipes too! First things first though, direct lift bike lift.

The screamin eagle 2 piece slip ons, are they baffle adjustable? that is, are the baffles removable or fixed? I like the look of the stock mufflers but I cant get at the baffles!
