Fueling oil pump?
« on: October 26, 2005, 08:09:34 PM »

I am gathering parts for a winter "build" of my '04 FLHRCI, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Fueling oil pump?  Seems like a good idea to increase volume without corresponding pressure in these engines.  I was also considering the Fueling lifters for the same reason.  Any thoughts on these items?

Very good idea. And yes get the lifters also you won't be unhappy. Some people had problems with the lifters without the pump so if you don't go with the pump go with jims lifters.

Be safe

DCFIREMAN - thanks for the input.  Most of you guys have a lot more experience with these motors than I do.  The majority of my motors were muscle car builds, but I figure pistons, cams, and heads are just pistons, cams, and heads right?  And this time there are only 2 cylinders to worry about!

Seriously, I have seen a wealth of very good info. on this site and I appreciate the knowledge that is concentrated here.

Thanks

You might try these guys for the pump/lifter kit, I think they were running about $425 on sale. I haven't shopped around to compare recently, but these guys are very competitive on a lot of items. Good luck with the winter rebuild!

Thanks for the info.  Currently Wally's has the pump & lifters for $413.50.  That's the best I have found so far.

Post us when you get it done. I'm interested in the Fueling pump alignment and what you see for pressure at idle and hiway, etc. When I get a tear down for cam shoe replacement or install gear drives, I'm going to change out the oil pump and lifters as well. I just can't accept that 5-8 psi is sufficient oil pressure at idle, and I have seen a few tear downs that seem to bear that out. Or, they were just in too many parades or idling for long periods in hi temps. Nadda good.
