I don't care how good it is, I would never do that to my bike.

Here's the Road Tech version, mounted:

The Road Tech 75 was developed for Harley-Davidson by Escort, the leader in radar and laser detection technology. The Road Tech 75 Detector features superior warning range for laser and X, K, and Superwide Ka band radar. Road Tech 75 also detects the latest "POP" mode radar and Safety Warning Messages (SWS). Digital Signal Processing (DSP) provides long range warning on all bands while drastically reducing false alarms. Exclusive EZ-Programming allows you to customize up to 8 selectable features, including ExpertMeter which tracks and displays up to 8 radar signals at once. The rugged water-resistant detector is easily removed from the installed mount when parked to reduce potential theft. Kit includes compact travel storage case. The self-contained audio alert speaker is loud enough to hear while wearing a helmet.

I use the valentine1 in my truck and HD's in the dash model. The HD has paid for itself. Draw back is drilling a 3/4" hole in the dash and advantage is you can remove in and put it in your pocket should you get pulled over in a state that doesn't allow them.

I have had numerous radar detectors and the primary reason the Valentine is so good is it gives you a clear indication whether the cop is in front of you behind or to the side.  Plus it has great range This is valuable because in Texas the cop now comes up from behind you not sitting of the side of the road.  Plus, we now have stealth cops.  No visible markings and even have normal Texas plates.

I have had no tickets in my vette or truck in 8 years since using the Valentine.  My had the Escort 8500 (???) and got two.  Switched her to the Valentine and since then none.

Don't have it on the bike because it doesn't look good and it's not waterproof.  And the waterproof case looks terrible.

Might try the Road Tech.

Sorry, shirt = short.  My typing skills have plenty of room for improvement.  :nixweiss:

Anyway, I don't bother with an enclosure - some are rather large and hideous. If it's going to rain, or starts to, I just stow it. Who's going to be speeding around on a bike in the rain anyway?  I'll take a pic and post it.

I just went to the MoCo and looked at the Road Tech 75. With the SEUC they use a template to cut a little bit out of the dash but do a nice job finishing it. But in my case, with my 14 inch Chubby handlebars that butt up close to the dash, they just don't see how it can be mounted. We even looked at the Road Glide mount and it's a no go. So I'll have to keep looking.

Interesting replys.  I have for many years gone with ESCORT in all of my vehicles.  The guy that started up Valentine is a former ESCORT guy.  I feel confident that both are excellent choices.

I too am looking for the best setup for my new scoot.  I have a related website that may be of interest,  but I'll have to come back with the info when I get back from my garage.

I was a die hard Escort fan for the longest time. Until I saw a deal on a used Valentine One I couldn't pass up. I'll never go back. Having the directional arrows and source number indicator gives you the SA to know where you're being pinged from, and how many times. Here's a real world personal example. Driving through Wy or MT (can't remember) with my riding bro as we were coming to the finish of out Border-to-Border-to-Border Insanity ride (Canada - Mexico - Canada in under 48 hours). I get a weak x-band indication from the front, we slow down a little. Then threat indicator goes to 2 and adds Ka from the front. Drop to the limit, just in time to get another stronger ka ping from the front. Then one more. After a couple minutes, we passed a cruiser in the median. The sneaky SOB was "hiding" in an x band clutter area. As we pass, we get a ping from the rear... and then another. The x band fades away. Then another ka hit... not fading in strength. Continue cruising along at the limit, 30 seconds later, another ping... and in my rear view mirror I see the cruiser topping a hill behind us. We were on a long stretch of straight road with rolling hills. Everytime we'd top hills he'd hit us, and he got closer every time. If I didn't have the arrows, and the numeric indicator, I could have easily assumed I was just getting false hits and pressed on... while the cruiser closed on me from the rear.

While I had my Escort I often road with guys using the V1, and will admit the range is pretty equivilant... but the arrows & counter on the V1 put it over the top!

OK.  So how did you  mount your Valentine.

I love my Valentine's all four of them but none on the bike.

Pictures.

That presents a problem alright.  I always wondered about a stealth mount.  You wouldn't have the same feedback advantages as some of the more sophisticated units, but you'd still know if you were being hit.

Honestly, I just slow down whenever it starts beeping.  False alarm or no, it keeps me away from tickets.

I purchased my Cell Set solution for the Zumo and bluetooth phone integration to the HD system.  Perfect solution.  One of the best add-ons I have ever purchased.

Can't figure out a way to make the Valentine waterproof.

The magnetic mount should work.  Just plug it into the 12v accessory.

Chrome must be the way to go.
