This is real as far as I can tell from the ad.  This is in the latest edition of American Iron.  It's not me.  :huepfenjump3:

I wondered why the local Sear's stores were suddenly out of 1.25" vacuum cleaner hose; looks like this "company" bought up the supply.  Uhhh, would I really want to run two screws into my high priced side cover to mount that thing (plus whatever other holes that are underneath it for wiring, etc.)?  I don't think so.  I believe the lousy economy has convinced someone to try starting their own business after losing their corporate job, and in a Cheech and Chong inspired burst of drug induced brilliance, they came upon this idea.  May God bless them, but I'm afraid I'd have to pass on this item.

Gerry, my thought is that it is completely passive, just a big hole in the side cover and some sort of shroud plumbed from the exhaust to the vest to draw heat into the hose, maybe a small fan in line.  Just like the pre heater setup on the older cars with the shroud on the exhaust manifold preheating the air to be burned.

I don't think this is for real.  I think it's just another joke...like that thing that connects to your odometer when trailering your bike to register the miles on your bike.  I have an idea for another gadget.  How about a CD with the sound of a Harley running that Gold Wing owners can play in their stereo?

Ok, I know that to most this seems silly  :P on the surface but for those of us who have operated heavy machinery in cold climates it's not that far fetched.

When it gets cold we take a similar concept and apply it to bulldozers, etc.  You essentially attach a "bag" (don't know the official name if there is one  ???) and put it over the radiator of the dozer then run a hose from that bag over to where the operator sits to direct the heat off of the radiator at him.

It ain't perfect but when it's 15 to 20 degrees and you have to be in that seat for 8-12 hours it's pretty helpful.  :2vrolijk_21:

I have to admit though... Even though we complain about the "terrible" heat on these motors, I can't see them generating enough heat to make this premise work very well.  That little bit of hot air blowing on you when you're running 50+ mph down the road on a cold day ain't gonna' help much I don't think... :(

Well that may be called "heating" and it is used, essentially in the same way, in cars since the 1940's.

Ride safely,

I think the electric clothing would work better and it's certainly more inconspicuous on the bike.
