I have had starting issues with my 2008 SEUC, since I got the bike it seems. At times, not every time when I go to hit the start button, the starter engages and the whole engine sounds like it is going to BLOW!!!!! Terrible sounds....sometimes it just doesn't fire up...cranks and then the starter disengages....had it back to the dealership three times.....was told they could not duplicate the problem....I have to admit it does not happen all the time, random.
I picked up the scoot last week and went to start it in the dealerships service area....crack, bang & XXZZCCKKK!!!
It would not start after three attempts, all service mechanics and the serevice manager's heads turned....I just said, that's what I am talking about!!!! They had just replaced the starter clutch..I took the bike home, because we had a ride to go on...no problems....
The HD Rep was going to visit the dealership the following week and needed to see my scoot because I was complaining about a paint issue on the front fairing that has been going on for over a year....no more patience on my part....starting issue occurred while he was there, but nobody really had any answers...
The service manager has a lot of wrenching turning experience and I think this became a challenge for him....he hooked up my scoot to HD's All Powerful Computer and Diagnostic Machine and started checking all the systems out....Guess what he found out?

When he called me to let me know the scoot was fixed I was relieved in two ways...first I thought it was me....and second, I was going to just get a new scoot, but then I though wait a minute...this is my second SEUC with the 110 motor...I just would be terribly stupid to purchase a third one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I turned off the flashing stupid ;light on my forhead and headed out to pick up the fixed SCOOT!!!
Bottom line is: the ACRS were disabled....thats right in lay mans terms...turned off!!!! No freaking wonder that the scoot was hard to start.
The shop stated that when you add a race tuner, it automaticall disables the ACRS and they must be reactivated. I wonder if this had anything to do with the fact that both ACRs were replaced during the product enhancement upgrade, probably not since I had the problem previously. Who knows...all I care about is that the scoot starts like a dream.

If you have starting issues with the 110 motor and have had a race tuner installed, have a dealer make sure your ACRs are activated.
