I've never tried the headset or intercom. I've turned the CB on to learn how to use it, but I couldn't talk...just listening through the speakers. I bought a handheld mic yesterday, but I don't think I'll get much use out of it around home. I only have one other friend that has the handheld mic on his bike, and nobody else has headsets in their helmets. Part of it is the fact that we have no helmet law here, and if I'm not crossing state lines, I may or may not have a helmet on at all. When I do wear a helmet, it's a half helmet...unless we are talking the dead of winter and then I throw on the full face, but then I don't have too many other brave souls around that will ride in the temps I ride in. I keep thinking about buying a nice helmet with a communication system in it, but then I realize it's just another toy that I personally won't get much use out of. I only bought the mic yesterday because I figured I may actually get some use out of it on the trip to Eureka Springs and then I'll have it ready for other trips. Plus, I'll have the 8 speaker HogTunes setup installed possibly by tomorrow night, and I'd like to get some use out of that, since I paid for it.
If I lived in a helmet law state, I might be more tempted to spend the money, but as it is, I'd just be talking to myself. I know very few people here that wear a helmet all the time, and if they do, it's a half helmet. In fact, I wish more people I ride with were equipped to communicate. That would be enough to move me to action. It sure would be alot easier than waiting for a red light to talk or waiting until a gas stop. I would think that there would be a lot of advantages to being able to communicate between bikes.
