09 SERG two up stability seems better.
« on: May 03, 2009, 11:16:37 PM »

This is a topic that I would be interested in getting other owners perspective and opinion about. My gal is about 130lbs. and I check in at about 200lbs. We have ridden on a 88 cu. in. softail and then moved up to a 96 cu. in. Road King in 2007 for more power. I just took her for a short trip on the new 2009 CVO Road Glide we just purchased. I don't know if the new frame or the increased engine displacement makes the difference, but riding two up on this new bike seems to be more comfortable and whole lot more stable than our previous bikes. It was such a noticable difference she even wants to ride again when we can. What a difference for both of us. What do you say about difference?

I don't know what it is but something made it better. I started riding Harleys with an 07' Ultra. I got rid of it because I didn't like the batwing fairing. My next was an 08' RG. That was an awesome bike but a little mushy sometimes. The SERG is the most stable bike I have ridden. I was very comfortable with my 08' RG and after 13000 miles I felt a part of it. Right now I feel a little awkward on the new bike especially at low speed. I can't figure out what is causing this but I am sure I will get it worked out. T.

I'd have to agree that all the frame changes for '09 make all the touring models more stable...

I would think going to the fixed fairing of the RG from a RK would make a huge differance. Having the wife want to ride is a great bonus.

Seriously, I have never had any one on the back of mine, wife rides her own

Same for us - my wife usually rides the SERG, but I borrow it sometimes when she's not riding that day.

My $0.02 is that once you ride a 2009 touring bike for a while,it's very difficult to go back to an earlier model.

indeed...2-up is so much more stable on this new machine than prior Bagger models, I feel much better in the safety of my passenger

...I have also noticed that I can ride much farther with my girlfriend than with my wife  :P
