HK Advanced Audio System
« on: May 05, 2009, 04:51:07 PM »

I have an 06' FLHTCUSE and am having a problem with my HK Advanced Audio System. While I am riding the output to all speakers cuts out whether it is am, fm, cb, wb, or aux until I toggle the speaker switch and the I have sound again. This happens over an over again throughout my ride. VERY ANNOYING .... anyone have similar problems, any ideas? I was told that this is a fairly common problem with HK advanced systems on the 06'.

Tom,

I know I have recently seen a post that stated something about someone who works on the H&K radios.  I have searched several threads where I thought it would be located but I can't seem to find it now.  I hope someone will reply to this post with the info.  I was hoping to find it so you could maybe make contact with them and maybe they might know something about your question as well as a fix.

Funny you should bring this up,  I have HD-Dude looking at mine with the exact same problem.  Nothing major but annoying as Hell. Of course you know how it goes, never acts up when your trying to trouble shoot it.  I hope he can figure.

There is some type of switch, I think in the handlebar, but I'm not sure, that is bad. Happened to my '08 SEUC awhile back. Dealer corrected the problem, said that they found a bad switch somewhere. Anyways, my bike has the extended, extended warranty, and there was no charge. I have the paperwork somewhere and I will try to find it. Mine, basically would do something like this,, Your riding down the road fine, then all the sudden the radio volume would cut out. After playing with the toggle for a second it would come back. One time, in fact on the day I was turning it in to have the problem worked on, radio was playing fine at a reasonable volume, then all the sudden it went to full blast bars, almost blowed my speakers, I held the toggle down till the volume was mute then rode the rest of the way to the dealer with no radio. Haven't had anymore problems with it since though..

I believe this is the thread you are speaking of - 20% off Harman Kardon radio repairs...finally an alternative to the dealer.
