Jet-Hot coating on new pipes
« on: May 07, 2009, 10:26:11 PM »

I just received my new non cat head pipe and cross over pipes from Jet-Hot. I had them done in Extreme Sterling, the top of the line coating. The outside of the pipes look great. On the headpipe, the inside have what look like tiny bubbles. Should I be concenrned? These were new pipes. I didn't see any of these defects in other pictures posted here.

I sent the pics to Jet-Hot and they say it's no problem so I guess I'll put them on.

I think mine came back looking the same way.  I can't imagine it making a big difference either way.

I noticed you had the crossover piece done also.  I wonder how many folks had that done..?  I simply had the header coated in Extreme silver. Didn't even cross my mind to have the cross over pipe done...

I did come close to pulling all the hair out of my head removing that damn gasket in the cross over pipe and replacing it with a new one...  That was a ^%##^% :sauer005:

I have a tool called a tailpipe expander. It is a for expanding medium size tail pipes size 1.54" to 2.31". I used it to expand my cross over pipe when I did my non cat conversion.(I could not get the new gasket to fit until I opened the pipe a little ) It opens the pipe just a tiny bit and the new gasket will slide right in. I also use it when I swap out mufflers. It makes putting them back on a breeze. Then I clamp them down to the proper torque and no problems. I got the tool at Habor Freight Tool and Supply part no. It cost me $335 for the non-cat header and crossover done in extreme sterling.  This includes de-chroming and shipping.  I had a $50 off coupon that dropped the price to $285.  Check their website for discount coupons.

Turn around from shipping was two weeks.

Thanks!! It looks great.

I just have to figure out what my particular strategy will be.

I just know I can't ride around too long on my CVO Street Glide/Gold Wing. It's too quiet for me.

This maybe a duh question, but do you keep the heat shields on. Or since you have the jet hit coat do remove them?

Shields and clamps come off before coating.

You remove them to have the coating process done, but reinstall them afterwards... :2vrolijk_21:

Where do we send the exhaust system to get this coating done?  And how much was that Extreme Sterling coating?  Looking to get this done also for my 09 serg!  Thanks :orange:
