Beware of HDmaps.com
« on: November 01, 2005, 10:04:58 PM »

I'm a little po'ed at HDmaps.com.
On planning to put a 211 cam in my bike I noticed the race tuner maps that came with the race tuner didn't cover my setup very well. So I emailed HDmaps and asked them about a map for my setup. 2 weeks no response.
It was getting close to the time that I set aside to have the work done on my bike so I called HDmaps and spoke to Jay, he told me a map to use but said that he would get back to me with a mod for my pro pipe that would increase my HP approx 9 HP.
After paying my $49 bucks I noticed the map that he suggested didn't look right so I called and left a message for Jay. He did not respond and I called the next day. No response. I then called and left a message with Matt and he has not responded to my messages either.
I did what Unbalanced suggested and loaded a "close" map from version 4.5 race tuner software. The bike runs very strong now with a litte excessive popping. And I have an appointment at RC Cycles in Hayward, Ca. for a Dyno Tune.
I noticed $49 off my credit card that HDmaps has. With them not responding to my calls or emails I will most likely lose, UNLESS someone needs a map from them, you could buy it from me. I'll download it and email it to you.
THANK YOU UNBALANCE FOR YOUR HELP. And I will post my dyno sheet when I get it.

Thanks for listening,  >:(

Hey JC,
I was all set to take it to Sacramento HD but I was going to have to leave it their and then possibley take it back when the cruise control parts came in. This place in Hayward was recommended by my mechanic. It is $350 instead of $450 and I can wait their while they do the dyno.
It is just easier for me.

It is standard practice. Just call Visa. I bought a hot tub on the internet with a Visa card. The tub ended up not being as advertised and the company I bought it from was giving me the run around. I called Visa they reversed the charges and sent the company a letter telling them and all of a sudden the company was a lot easier to get along with. Long story short the came to Iowa from Kansas and picked up their tub. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

I called Visa and got it taken care of.
A couple of hours after I called Visa, I got an email from Jay at HDmaps. He sort of apoligized. Not sure if my call to visa had anything to do with him calling me.
Funny how I put my cell number on all 5 messages sent to these guys and I get an email back. My whole life right now is customer service, I know about using email instead of telephone.

I'm not going to hammer these guys any longer. My advise is :
Use them if you have to. If you are planning to dyno your bike anyway, you don't need them. Just find a map off the cd or someone on this website that is close. And run down and get it dynoed.

I still have no joy with them 3 different maps all ran the same (crap) really rich, bellowing out black smoke, only ran them for a few miniutes. Time to try & get my money back I guess!

Still running a SERT map that is close to my set up & she flies (just a bit of popping etc) But I thought since that had a map to suit my exact pipes & air cleaner it would save $600 in Dyno Time (wrong) But also over here my stealer has to truck my bike to Brisbane to their head office where they have the Dyno (its only 80km {50Miles}away) and they said if I take it in on a Saturday I can pick it up the following Saturday. So you see I have been trying to avoid this. They say they are the oldest Harley Dealer in the world established in 1917 (they do import alot of Harleys) 4 shipping containers per month with 20 bikes in each shipping container!

Mike,
Hope your dyno/SERT clears it up for you mate. I believe the dealer there is a bit off, as I recall either Dudley-Perkins in San Francisco established back in 1914,  http://www.dpchd.com/default.asp, or maybe a dealership in Ohio somewhere are the oldest dealerships, at least in this country. Perhaps they're the oldest down under ?
