street glide
« on: May 16, 2009, 07:03:19 PM »

Today I was at Harley Davidson and decided to take them up on there offer to test ride any 09 bike in the place.
I ride a 08 soft tail custom. I gave it some thought and decided on the street glide WOW !!! what a ride, throttle response
shifting and handling. I am so totally sold on this ride, I wish that I could buy it maybe one day.

I keep telling people "don't test ride an 09 if you're not ready to buy.......cause you'll sell your sole for one, once you do". :2vrolijk_21:

The street Glide is an awsome especially the 2009 with the new frame. I have an 07 and its a great bike but the 09 is soooo much better.

The Road Glide is an different animal.  I have had one and rode it as a RG for two years and was never happy with the fairing.  I changed it to a FLHT fairing and that made a huge improvement (to me) in the handling of the air.  I put about 12K on with the shark nose and about the same with the batwing, and can say that personnally, I will never own another shark nose.  I tried several winshields and seat, but it never created an 'air pocket' like the batwing does, and my BSR was even more impressed with the batwing improvement.  It really stinks, because I loved the look and theory of the Road Glide fairing, but when folks speak of them being the 'ultimate bike', let's just say I don't agree.  I won't miss it when it's no longer in the line up. :nixweiss:

That said, I now have a '09 Street Glide, and love it!  I have a few windshields and seat, so I can make it look aggressive or prep it for an iron butt in minutes.  Versitile and stylish.  I plan on putting many miles on this bike!  My ONLY complaint is that it's so popular.  I guess a custom paint job is in order.  :2vrolijk_21:

About six weeks ago the Street Glide model took the lead in sales of the touring models for the first time.....even passing the Ultra Classic.  Road Glide was at the bottom end of sales for the touring models.

There are several members here that have both the Screamin Eagle Electra Glide and the Screamin Eagle Road Glide......Andy and Don both report that there's much more wind turbulance around the upper body with the Road Glide. :nixweiss:

I love my 07 StreetGlide , with the 103 stage II /IDS /oil cooler it is as close as I could get to the SEEG and the 6 speed is nice.

I miss my FXDWG3 , but the SG is way more comfy.  The dealer has been trying to get me to ride an 09.. I've said no .. I know they handle better , but mine's paid for , and the 2010's are just around the corner .. hoping for an SESG .

The dealer confirmed no Road Glide, but did say he heard from the MoCo " if you liked the RG , wait till you see the replacement .."

but then we know they are always like that...

I love my '08 Street Glide.  It still has the 96 in it, (I'm thinking of upgrading to the 103), and I love driving it.  It definitely has a different "feel" to it then the SEUC, not better, just different.  It's my running around/commuter bike, while the SEUC is for the better half and I when we ride together.  I've always liked the looks of the Street Glide and had wanted one since they hit dealers.  I'd love to see one done up in CVO with a 200 on the rear and that SERG rear fender and LED light treatment.

I think you'll see a new SEEG in just a couple of months that'll have the 09 SERG tail section. :2vrolijk_21:

I've heard from more than one dealership in my travels, that there is the rumor that there will be a Screamin Eagle Street Glide for 2010.  If that happens, I may have to part with my '08 for that.   :2vrolijk_21:  But I bet it will be extremely hard to get and the dealers will be charging a premium for them.  You know that an SESG will sell!!.

We just bought an 09 Street Glide Red Hot Sunglow about 3 weeks ago for my gal and I have to tell you I am almost ready to get rid of my 08 SEUC to get one for myself. That is one sweet ride and the 09 changes are awesome!! I put CFR's on it with the stage one and race tuner and boy does she get up and go!!!
