LED dipstick
« on: May 17, 2009, 09:04:19 AM »

I went to buy one of those fancy LED dipsticks yesterday and the parts guy told me to save my money. He said he had sold 4 recently and got 3 returned. Said they just quit working. Anybody got a report on those things? Thanks, T.

Fogs up when I wash the bike because I forget to put a baggie over it every time...

I was riding with d-rock, member and SERK owner, 2 weeks ago and after an impressive take-off and trying to catch a mercedes, it popped out and spilled oil on his ride.  I always wanted one until then.

I've had mine for a year and a half, no problems at all. I think the first ones had some issues.

After reading these replies I think I will pass. The risk of bad effects outweighs any benefit I may get from it. T.

I have the new one with the 09 part number way differant than the early ones with the 07 part number, looks and works good so far and only off 1*, reads oil level perfect.   I like it.    Doc

I had one of the first issue ones that went out. Bought another for the old 00RK worked fine and had little ball bearings as you kind of twisted it in. Bought another for the 07CUSE and I used it so much after 2+ years baterry went dead but it works fine and it screws in like the stock one. Still think one day will change out the temp gauge for an oil temp gauge so I can watch the temp as I ride rather than have to reach down and push the button.

I got the screw in style on my SERG and had the older one on my 05 FLHRC, both work fine, but I would verify the oil temp with a laser temp gun, i've had to take a couple back to find one that was dead nuts on. I have heard they calibratable, ew new word.
