Was wondering who has 10K miles or more on their 09 FLHTCUSE4?
If you do, please list out any issues that you have had.
Also give us a list of what has pleasantly surprised you about your 09.

Issues

1)  At 1500 miles the spotlight/cruise switch stopped operating.
That was on Sunday, was replaced on Monday under warranty.

2)  The D407 front tire is almost toast and is cupping at 11022 miles.

3)  Motor is noisy, was at 8 miles (delivery) and still is 11K miles later.

4)  The stock GPS is a joke.

The good news,

1)  Best handling Harley I have ever owned.

2)  Still have a 1000 miles left on the rear tire with 11022 miles on the clock. (never had a dresser that got over 8500 miles on a rear tire)

5) Seat has two rips underneath the front where it rubs.

I also love my bike, the silver  :huepfenlol2: 09 SECU is (IMO) the best Harley has done !

I have a problem with the switch that controls am/fm/cd/nav/wb/xm , damn thing sticks, not a big deal I mostly listen to xm

I don't use the gps, I'm thinking of getting a real one  :huepfenlol2:

My front tire cupped really bad at 9800 miles (replaced) on my dime !, I normally got about 15k miles on my other   front tires.

Things I like :  The color is amazing, when you park the bike in the sun the silver comes alive (really bright). The blue looks black at times, looks a royal blue, and even a purple.

The rear tire is big and helps to handle very well.
The abs brakes although they may give you a fright the first time you use them, believe me they stop very well.
After making the tour pak detachable and puttin a gunslinger seat on it, wow, lighter (just fun ) :2vrolijk_21:
little things that cvo's have had before colored inner fairing, chrome control, wheels, six speed trans.

 It's been a great spring !!!

 Ride safe

I am at 6k miles.  I've had a few very minor issues:
The nav system module had to be replaced.
The center case bolt leaked just a little.
I think there may be a problem with the security system malfunctioning, but the jury is still out.
Front tire cupping. (noticed around 4k, forgot to list here and added 5/21)

I love it.
Of course, red is the fastest and best color.

Yes the nav system is a waste of money.  Interesting how HD now OEM's the Zumo with custom mounts (albeit not on the CVO).  Never even loaded the Nav on the 07 or the 09.

Wouldn't know if mine even works.

Same issue with the tires, my dealership indicated the front and rear are now suppose to last about the same amount.  In other words the rear should last around 12,000 as should the front..  My 07 would get 20k out of the Metzers for the front and 7500 out of the rear.  Mine is right on track to wear out a little above 12000.  Then I get I'll replace them both.

Best handling bike by far.  Combo of better tires, better frame, better brakes and better suspension.

Brakes are awesome.  Heat is much better than the 07.

And the Texas Burnt Orange/Autumn Haze is the fastest and best color

 :bananarock: :jalapeno:

My engine is quieter than the 07.

Paint on engine started peeling around 1000 miles.  Started on top of the trans where is mates to the engine.  Have a few spots on the right side of the engine also.  Waiting to hear back from the service manager to see what Harley is going to do about it.

I want to thank, Ohio Dave, 110 Mofo, Fourstar, Diamondback, egultrac, Pavetack and donald p for your responses.

It's like the good news bad news scenario.

The bad news is, there were not many responses, the good news is, people don't write much when there's nothing wrong.  :2vrolijk_21:

They usually post when there's a problem.  Then they complain the loudest.

I am very happy with my 09 SEUC and hope to hear how others feel.

  • A Harley isn't just for Christmas, it's for LIFE!

Just 500 miles on mine so far, but here are the negatives:

1. Despite the published seat height being same as earlier models, it's like the empire state building compared to my CUSE2.
2. Tourpak lid paint getting rubbed by the passenger back rest. Removing the backrest to put clear film on to protect, I found:
3. Cracks in the Tourpak lid round the left hand side mounting hole. Caused by the holes being made I suspect (they aren't round so no care is taken in drilling these). I doubt it will get worse.
4. Paint defects on the front fender side.  Looks like a few spatters of dry clear lacquer.
5. Paint defect on the fairing.  Looks like a run, or a sag, in the lacquer that has  - almost - been polished out.
6. Seal between inner and outer fairing trapped partially inside. - sloppy fitting of the fairing
7. Split bracket holding the left hand side control on the passenger speaker box, so the screw would not tighten - overtightened at assembly
8. Warning stickers (now removed!) on saddlebag guard rails fitted in HD's usual sloppy fashion, all skewed.
9. Protective film on left hand side cover to prevent rubbing by the seat sloppily fitted and has a wrinkle in.

Positive side?

I LOVE IT!  ;D

  • If you ain't Riding..You ain't living

4,000 on mine

I have motor clatter, but had that on my 06. Personally I think it is inherent with the Harley.
I had alot of Paint issues, but my Dealership is replacing...The tour Pak, Batwing, saddle bag, and gas tank.(no charge)
I have an issue with washing the bike and then codes are being thrown, so the dealer is going to track down which wire harness it is and replace it.

I have an issue at operating temperature...... when you roll on the throttle, it sounds like loose metal in the exhaust. Now I remember on my 06 the valves were hitting the Rocker covers so the dealer "Honed" "Shaved" whatever you want to call it to increase the clearance. They swear that Harley has fixed this problem with new covers. I have convinced them to remove 1 cover to make sure I have the new ones.

Agreed on the GPS, not sure I like it..........I figure I am not lost unless I am out of fuel.

No issues with the tires yet, geez I hope the don't wear out that fast, I never got 10,000 on a rear tire but I always got 20,000-25,000 on a front tire. The key is Pressure..... Keep it right!
I tow a trailer so the rear is normally replaced at 7,500 more flat then out of tread.

No other issues that I am aware of...

pushing 12,000 miles and my only complaint is that my front tire is toast.  On my 06 I always got 2 rears to one front but the cupping on my 09 is horrible.  Look at the latest 09's and notice how ther tire tread is the opposite as the early 09's.  Seems Dunlop f'd up and put the tread on backwards.  Of course this didn't have anything to do with my cupping according to Dunlop and the MOCO.
