Backrest, tour pack, touring seat, too high?
« on: November 06, 2005, 09:25:44 PM »

I'm demoing a Mustang seat from JRUd. What a great guy, sends me the seat to try out! Anyway, the stock backrest is now too low for the wife, I am wondering if the chopped tour pack is too low also? I plan on getting both, but for now, I was going to order the chopped tour pack because I like the look better than the king. So , here's my question, is the chopped tour pack too low when you get the higher touring seat for the passenger? How far up the back does it come? I see in the picture of the Chattanooga hog tales a pumpkin with the chopped tour pack but wonder if its the stock seat or what? Can anyone help me with this?

Yes according to my wife. Fortunately, she is pregnant right now so I don't have to spring for the king pak just yet.

Just as I thought. I guess its the king tour pack after all. Can I get it without the lights at least? That thing is huge!

Yes you can order the pack w/out lights. You know how HD is. Start with the base tour pack, then order every individual part seperately.

BTW, I ordered a TP a couple years ago from HD. I added the lights, trim, luggage rack, etc. Then you have to saw holes in your brand new $$$$ tour pack to install lights, etc. I was later told but never comfirmed that you could order it already installed.  ????

I have brought it up but right now she isn't going for it. I think after the little one is here I might be able to convince her. Time will tell.

CVOwner,

I have a mustang seat that was for my old ultra.   When I put it on the SEEG the backrest on the chopped is toooooo low.   Best advice ... go with the king tourpak and stay with the mustang :) .

STAY away from the King T/P, ruins the whole flow of the bike. Or if you have to buy one of the gaint ones, get it for a Classic so you don't have the gaudy rear tail lamps/mldg on it. The one for a Ultra Classic looks like crap on that bike, it would have to look worse on a S/E bike.

Or not, depending on your point of view and whether your "flow" is appearance or utility.

Gotta love it when choices are so easy.  The only King pak we can order in a color match is the "classic" model.  If someone likes the Ultra lights and trim, however, and correctly applies their own tastes and choices rather than third party whining about other's choices they need only cut the holes.  Gotta love it when your choices are your own  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Don't know, seems awfully absolute there.  Empirical evidence suggests otherwise too.  Having seen the Ultra tour pak (on the one hand) and listened to crap here (on the other) in comparison the Ultra pak seems not nearly so malodorous.

I think it looks pretty good on my scooter, but then I am prejudiced.

CVOwner,

I have the chopped pac with the Mustang seat, and my wife loves it and says it feels fine.
Can you imagine what those tiny backrests feel like on the Deuce?
