Ok kick me back down again  :( :(  Good point....

Looks like the saddleman might clear because of the taper...  The RideTek toppers with their bags def wont... But I wonder if I could trap a tent on one side and a 6-pak on the other?

Or.......   Something like this might work :huepfenlol2: .

I understand.  If I hadn't scored mine used for about 30% of new I wouldn't have it either.  Without something external to the bike you're still left with just the bike's space though.  In it or on it.  As a storage medium the bike is a pretty obvious system.

Check out American Legend for a trailer. I just got one and you can't find a better looking trailer to pull behind a Harley, period. It was a little pricey but worth every penny.

Ok, all kidding aside. If a trailer isn't for you yet, then go to T-Bags.com and see what they have.
Sounds like you and the wife go for over nighters and other journeys that require more then 1 or 2 days of crap.

This is what I used to do..........zip lock bags is the best way to pack, in each zip lock you put the socks undies and shirt for the day and wear your pants twice. Trust me on this and I am not trying to be funny. Zip lock bags with all the air out takes up very little room.

But I have to tell you your significant other will really like the trailer option. My wife doesn't want me going one night without it.....go figure...it's the only way the blow dryer will go with us.

deaf1,
I strapped my Eureka 6 person tent across the rear fender behind the saddle bags.  It went to Alaska and back that way.  This was on my old Ultra and I did have the bars going around the bags.  What does yours have for lower bag mounts/brackets?  The tent won't be that heavy, you just need something to tie to.  Then put your Tbag on the sissy bar.  How much more room do you need???  If you're filling the saddle bags and a decent sized Tbagand you still need more room, then make HER drive the damn car!

What ever happened to the days when we could throw all of our worldly possessions into the back seat of a Volkswagen and head off across the country to school or to a new job?  Now we need an 8 passenger SUV with a roof rack and a trailer just to take a weekend camping trip.  We are one screwed up society.

Here's the best advice:  Get the back seat rider their own bike and then each person will have two saddlebags and a tour pak for "necessities".  The tent can be rolled up and strapped to the passenger portion of the seat.  If that still isn't enough room, consider the "fly and ride" option along with a nice hotel/motel.

Just my smart-azzed opinion. ;)

Riding a loaded down bike is not fun, been there done that....tent and chairs bungied to the sides of the saddlebags, tour pack rack stacked way to high..... i "rescued" this trailer from a barn, after cleaning it up, repacking the bearings and replacing the tires i towed it from Ohio to Sturgis, total investment about $800.00. That convinced me it was worth having it repainted and doing some other minor cosmetic stuff.

Ask around, that is all i did and someone said, hey i think i know where there is a trailer that might be for sale.

A hitch rack from Rivco is an option

That looks scary as I wonder how the weight off the rear end would effect handling
