We went as far as the Circle wayside in 02. I was on an Ultra and she was on a Dyna Convertible. When I was cleaning the Ultra in 06 to sell it, I was still able to get "circle dirt" off it. We rode up the entire way from OKC. I would say it will certainly do it and you'll have a GREAT time. But the bike will take at least triple the wear and tear cosmetically from the mileage up north, than it would see in the lower 48. So you have to decide if the cosmetic wear is worth it. Obviously, I wouldn't have ANY problems taking a non SE Ultra, but I'd have to think about it for a while before I took our SE's up. I'm not sure I wouldn't buy an 09 non SE and ride it up and back and then sell it when I got back.
When we went it rained everyday for the first 2 weeks. They use a very fine calcium chloride powder to reduce dusting when it's dry, but it makes for a very slick mud when wet. It sticks to everything and gets in everywhere! I would strongly consider one of the stick on plastic overlays for the fairing, tank and lowers to protect those items from some of the excessive wear.
