Tour pack options
« on: May 22, 2009, 07:39:24 AM »

I'm new to this forum (first forum of any kind), so I hope I'm posting this in the right place and not breaking any of the "forum rules".  With that said, I have an '05 SEEG and have been searching for some different tour pack / seat options.  My question is this: What is the best way to add the arm rest style backrest to the chopped tour pack and a new seat?  Do I have to go to a full size pack or will HD or Corbin fit the pizza box?  My wife rides with me a lot and she would like additional comfort and support.

Man, you hit the jackpot right off.
The seat is a completely separate issue.
Tourpak, Corbin makes a backrest for the chopped TP that can match any of there seats. you can also change to the arm style and they will cover it for you to match. But IMO, its looks sad on a chopped TP. if the armrest and all are important, then go with the King TP. you'll be happy you did.
if your wife's comfort is most important, then Corbin Dual classic with King TP, get the ultra style for the lights , do ebay and paint it to match. the bracket are another issue but not a problem.
Hope this helps.

No matter which Tour Pak you ultimately decide on, you may want to investigate the George Anderson relocation bracket that many on this site have purchased.  It allows you to move the entire thing back further, which in turn allows the back seater more room and a more relaxed and less upright riding position.  Try a search for "George Anderson" if you want to read some threads about it.

Thanks larryb.  I was coming to the same conclusion on my own, but the cost (at least for a new tour pak) are a little prohibitive, add paint and it gets worse, add the new seat and I may as well trade this in a buy an ultra.  I thought a simple option would be the corbin dual tour with the armrest style backrest.  Even though corbin says it won't fit the chopped, I figured there had to be a way to make that work.

My '05 SEEG has the Ultra style backrest on it (with "mini" armrests).  Came that way when I bought it (used).  Looks like two extra holes were drilled to make it work.  Wife loves it.

The backrests attach to the tour pak lid.  It's the same lid on either a chopped pak or a king pak.  So the backrests are interchangeable.

Using the king pak's backrest on your chopped will require drilling some new holes.  These are holes that will be completely in the open if you decide to go back to the smaller pad.  Just an FYI.

Try ebay or craigslist for a complete King TourPac. I got lucky last week and found one complete, new, and unused for less than 1K in the right color. To find all available on craigslist google  "Harley Tour Pack craigslist" and you will pretty much get a national search. If the correct spelling is used  (TourPak) it will turn up less choices.  :nixweiss:  ...and welcome to the site.   Doc

Yes it is.  The golds or tans and reds often work well together.  The gold stripe in the SEEG's paint helps that tan saddle tie real well.  Of all it's variations with the different tour paks, the tan saddle and the black saddle the tan saddle with both of its oval backrests is my favorite look for the bike.  Thanks :2vrolijk_21: .
