Can anyone explain the pros and cons of these two items for an '07 SEUC?

I just went through this myself. One is for riding solo so the tourpak can be used as a backrest with a solo seat. The other one is for two up which moves the tourpak back for a passenger.  I hope this helps.  Doc

I have seen on TN's & Candy's bikes where the TP is located 'over' the back seat. I assume that's what you're talking about. I thought that was achieved by turning the rack around and mounting it differently.

Doc, after thinking about this for a few minutes, I should have asked: which one is which, and which one did you go with?

I wasn't aware it would go over the seat for the solo rider. I had to purchase the forward docking hardware kit to make it work  (53746-97B). You end up with four docking points the most forward is near the shock and the rear you already have and two in between. My original Chopped TourPak uses the rear and the most forward and the my newer King TourPak uses the hardware for the two up setup so I had to add the one more from the kit just before the rear. So I had three and had to add one more from the kit which has every senario possible and you end up with lots of extra parts. Hey this chit is confusing.  Doc

Since we are always two up the 07 is the one I used.  Doc

Thanks Don, I know you have been through all this also. I wish the old docking hardware was still available for the King, but I guess its been out of production for a while.  Doc

The old detacable rack with the nice leather look insert. It's not available anymore so the 07 rack is the only choice now for the older bikes. The more I get into the 00 the more I appreciate how good of a job they did...a very complete bike with bits like the inserts that made it unique. Doc

At least as of six months ago the inserts were still available from Harley.  The rack is 53107-96.  Have heard/read several say they're no longer available.  Harley went with the newer rack style because of occasional cracking issues on the old one (though with the inserts I like it much better too).

That number is still active on Chicago Harley's website though.  And there's commonly some on eBay.  Just looked and two listed there now.  So you can score it one way or the other if one is needed.
