Lower fairings and engine temperatures
« on: May 24, 2009, 02:10:31 AM »

Will the Ultra on the open road, during the summer, run cooler without the lower fairings?

They say the lowers direct air into the motor but after I removed the lowers it looked the motor would "see" more air.

Just curious, because last year I traveled to Sturgis and the motor ran rather hot (and we know why a stock motor runs hot).

I was wondering about going this year without the lowers if it would help to lower engine temps.

Any thoughts?

yes it would run cooler, even though you have vented lowers. I.m at the point now of removing mine from the ghost. let it get some air. and run some full synthetic lubes in it.

I have a '06 SEUC and can say that taking the lowers off makes a huge difference in the engine temp.  Mine runs much cooler without the lowers.
