Nice color match air cleaner for red SEEG
« on: November 08, 2005, 09:39:59 PM »

Had to be out of town today.  On the way home stopped in a Harley shop.  Saw this displayed.  Had it just been on the wall in a box wouldn't have looked twice.  The picture on the box isn't a good representation of the colors on the part.

This was in a parts counter though.   Parts guy let me take it outside and hold it up against the bike.  At least to my eye it looked good.  It also doesn't stick out quite as far as the stock air cleaner so your leg has a bit more room.

Hopefully the pic will either keep someone from wasting money on something they'd not have liked or confirm your curiousity about whether it matches up or not.  If interested it is HD # 29829-05BNO.

Here's an image pushed in tighter to show how well (or not) the blended colors match up to the color scheme on the bike.

2lane,
Does that fade to chrome on the outer edge or am I not seeing that right?

Thanks, for the demo twolanerider.  Not bad but I think I'll stick with the original cvo air cleaner.  Maybe the teardrop aircleaner if anything.

My, it gets dark at the edge you see in the picture.  No chrome. Might be something with camera flash  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

CVO and JR, I can't tell you I disagree with you.  It does get a bit busy.  Actually looks better from a few steps farther away so things can blend in a bit more.  Was one of those back and forth before buying kind of decisions.  That indecision is the biggest reason I threw the pictures up.  Everyone else gets to make fun of my bad taste  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Actually I do kinda like it.  Fortunately with just one screw holding it all in place I can go back and forth with the covers depending on my mood.

If it's Tuesday, it must be flames....

Twolane, didn't want you to think I was making fun. Just like chrome a little better. But I would think if your leg starts rubbing against it, the paint would wear off and you would be back to chrome again anyways.  :)

Rider, that was a thought that I had too (the leg rubbing thing).  This has more clearance than the stock unit allowed though and I already had the floorboard extenders on the bike.  Those two things together seem to make for enough room.  Good coats of wax will always help of course.  But at least initially rubbing doesn't look like it'll be an issue.

The chrome thing, however, may be.  I never met a piece of chrome I didn't like either.  This silly thing just happened to catch my eye.  Impulse buy.  I used the don't ask-don't tell policy when I paid for it so I didn't have to feel like an idiot (until later when the bill comes in).  But I'm still not sure which cover will end up logging the most time on the bike  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Standard 50mm f1.4 will do... or even a 28 WA...
