Heated suit connector
« on: June 02, 2009, 09:31:57 PM »

Has anyone tried to wire the connector needed for heated pants/jackets?  See pic for connector type.  The dealer told me that the bike was prewired for this, so I popped the side panels off but didn't see the appropriate type connector.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you have Gerbings get the Dual Controller.

I got this and don't use it.  My bike was not pre wired for any connectors (SERK2)

I have the Gerbings dual controller, but nothing to plug it into.  I could just wire it to the battery myself, as I did on my FXSTC.  However, the dealer told me that my SERG was "prewired" for heated clothing.  If this is true, where is it or what do I need to buy to set this up.

Not pre-wired but the HD jacket, pants and gloves all came with the 15 amp fused connector for the bike.Don't try an adaptor with the charger plug.

ah, ok...

Can't speak to the 09 SERG...

Its easy to wire up the controller, I have mine on a on/off on my triple tree that I got a splitter for at the dealer, planning to upgrade to a BMW connector to clean it up later.

Ah, the accesories circuit, makes sense.  I'm saving that switch for engine led lighting.  I guess I'll just wire it straight to the battery - so much for the bike being "Prewired".  Just another false (uninformed) statement made by the dealer during my purchase.

I STRONGLY believe moco dealers should have to be "certified" to sell CVO bikes, just as Ford dealers have to be "certified" to sell Saleen Mustangs.  My salesman didn't know the first thing about my 09 SERG, I had to do the research myself.  Poor performance moco!

I do all my own stunts for repair etc...have learned that I don't trust anyone to work on my rolling stock.  What I don't know how to do, I learn, what tools I don't have I borrow, steal or buy.

When iski gets told by a dealer in Florida that its an issue with how folks are shifting that was causing the 110" issues, and that they teach their customers how to shift, hence they have no 110" issues, I am glad I do all my own stunts.

Good luck

Another good option is the Heat Demons Power Demon plug. Put one on my wife's Deuce. You get a four position switch up on the handlebars to control heat amount and 2 outlets above the horn with a nice LED lighted ring around the outlets so you can see them at night. Nice product!

Here's the controller switch. If you get their heated grips, they have a similar controller switch for the other bar to control temp on the bar heaters.
