PICS Mustang Sport Touring w RK Tall Upright
« on: November 12, 2005, 08:52:59 AM »

Some of you guys have had questions about the Mustang seats. I thought I'd show some shots of mine.

It's the Sport Touring Seat, with the RK tall upright and pad. In addition, I added the SEEG pad backing plate. It's accidental that the Mustang vinyl and the MOCO vinyl matches perfectly.

Anyway you can see the height of the seat with the taller upright...Wendy loves it...ergo...me too..

Ron, the application just allows one attachment per post.  You can display multiple images in a single post by linking to them if they're already hosted elsewhere though.

Hey Phattey,
Noticed that you have the V&H Pro Pipes on and that you have a little bit of discolorization mid way down the muffler.  I have the same problem.  Have you done any adjustments to your fuel program and if so, what pray tell, what system?  Also did the discoloriation occur before or after your fuel adjustments?

I believe mine appeared before I had a chance to properly adjust the fuel. [smiley=wall.gif]

Bike looks good with the seat.

So what is the general consensus over the leather - vinyl choice?
I found a Mustang seat at a dealer in the "sale bin", but at $350 I am a little concerned if I would like the vinyl over the leather. I am tempted to buy, see if I like it, and if not put it on eBay.

BTW, my wife thinks I am a little nuts over this, I have had 4 seats so far this year, and thanks to eBay someone else now has them [smiley=drink.gif]

Bill I have the same thing and my bike was dyno tuned with A/F ration at 13 across the table and I still ended up with the discoloration on my V&H Pro Pipe, too.  It's on every one I've saw that's more than a few months old.

Pipe Discoloration....

Something you guys might try is to get the bike / pipes super hot or (this case Muffler) and then have a bucket with icewater in it waiting for you to return that is well ice cube cold .... now take a rag and drop it in the bucket .... let it soak up some water and get to the temp of the water .... now you will want your side bag off ..... take the wet towel and drop/lay it  it on the muffler where the discoloration is  ....  does it remove the discoloration for you?

Doing this on a few other pipes for me has remove discoloration several times.

Hope it helps someone.

Phattey - nice looking seat... I think you had a Sundowner at one time - Question for Wendy - is the passenger area firmer than the Sundowner? My wife was complaining the passenger area of the sundowner was too firm and made her back / butt hurt after about 150 miles.

Jim - this seat is night and day over the Sundowner...It has more passenger area, plus better foam.

She says she likes this one over all others we've tried. It's apparent too in that our distance has increased before she wants to strectch her legs. The Sundowner was fine for me, but not for her. The Mustang works for both of us..

The only thing with the Mustang is that some folks don't like is the vinyl look of it. I will say though, the newer models vinyl does look better than in the past.

I've got other pics which show it more if you'd like to see them PM me your mail address...

Phattey, bike looks great with that seat. How well does it work with the rider backrest installed. Also a little Pro Pipe tip. If you are running the stock baffle still, try taking a torque cone like you would use with drag pipes and drill a 1 3/4" hole in the baffle's plug and weld the cone in facing out like it would go in a header pipe. The performance baffle is too loud and too free flowing, this little mod is cheap, easy, and will make the Pro sound more like a thunderheader.

Thanks BigTime...

The rider backrest works perfectly. No interference. However, the SEEG backrest is made of leather and is lizard stamped. So it looks kinda off with the plain vinyl Mustang... So I bought a different backrest, Harley of course, that 's got the smooth vinyl covering and is a little biger than the stock SEEG one.

The MOCO passenger and rider backrests match the Mustang perfectly. It's weird how close they are, thus it all looks good together.

On the pipe....I already drill three 5/16's holes in the tip of the cone, per Miller in Daytona, to get a little more breath outta' that 103. Seems to be fine too. No dyno to prove anything, but it comes from a couple of respected tuners in Daytona.

Thanks for the tip though...I'm not sure I'm ready to go through Welding for Dummies just yet.. ;D

Here's a shot of the rear of the tall upright where I installed the SEEG backrest Plate...it's in the catalog...
