Number of variables could apply, Do you set the security in between riding ? Battery tend in the riding months as well as winter months ? I always battery tend when not in use, Just good safe pre caution.

Other conditions to remember is temperature. I am in Southern California, 30K on the 06, tender if sitting for 2 weeks or more, delivered 12/'05 and still a good battery. Warmer weather is better for batteries, cold will shorten your life cycle. Also your CUSE has all that electronic memory, STEREO, pulling amps at all times. Yes we have that better charging system, but the cycling up and down on the battery takes it's toll.

I have done the same to both bikes
trickel charge all winter
someone told me HD  went to  a cheaper battery in 2005
I dont know
but I thought a battery should last at least 5 years

My stock battery served me well for a little over two years.  Once I got educated on this site, I kept it on a trickle charger.  When I had the engine built to 117cid, it didn't have the cranking amps necessary to turn the motor over unless both compression releases were held in until the engine started.......two person task.  Installed a new battery, and don't have that challenge anymore.  Still keep the new battery on a trickle charger whenever it is parked in my garage.

I change the battery in my bikes always every second year in the spring. Lately people have started to talk about gel batteries available in the matching sizes/capacity. These should last much longer. Has anyone had any experience with them????

Ride safely,
