NEW TP Installed
« on: June 09, 2009, 10:01:58 PM »

Received my new King Tour Pac today and installed it.  Unfortunately, it came with the antenna mount and 7/8" cable hole pre drilled (for speaker pods).  I don't see in the Harley catalog where there's a cable to extend the stock antenna to the new location, any ideas?  I'd really like to remove the tour pac antenna mount, but there's a hole there now.

Oh, forgot to mention - I ordered the King Pac Classic for an 09 Street Glide in Pewter Pearl (79071-09CGR) for my 09 Stardust Silver SERG.  The color is slightly off (it looks like a shade between the Stardust Silver and the Titanium Dust color), but it allowed me to get the king pac and saved me $500.  The dealer would only let me order a chopped tour pac (whats the use) in the stock SERG paint for $1200.

If it turns out I can't get used to the color diff., I can always take it to a paint shop and have it painted for less than $500.

Sotty no pics yet, but will post when the freakin sun comes back out on the East Coast.

Sounds like your dealer is like mine (and probably countless, clueless others) and does not know that the King Pacs are available in CVO colors (same price $1200).  The CVO colors became available early this year but did not show up on the Harley website until after I ordered mine in black when I purchased my bike.   :nixweiss:  One of these days I will get around to getting it painted to match the saddlebags.

I was just looking at yours (I think) in another post.  I think a solid Black TP works on the Orange SERG, looks Hot Roddy!  What did you end up doing with the TP antenna mount?

HD has a antenna relocation kit for use with the chopped tourpaks, but you already have the base. So get the parts man to open the breakdown for the relocation kit and order you just the adapater that is used on the antenna base (where it is now) and the short cable and grommet to go to the base you have on your tourpak.
It can be done, I went in to order just the same stuff, they looked up all the parts, then I bought the relocation kit anyway as it was in stock.

ok, here ya go, take the antenna off the mount, do not remove the mount. install the OEM antenna on the new TP.
remove left side saddle bag, remove left side cover, just aft of the fuse box there is a bundled wad of wire, follow the antenna wire from the barrel connector back and you will see that bundle is the antenna wire, clip the zip tie that holds it. just under the fender strut there is a cable stay holding that wire in place, do not remove, just slide the wire through it. undo the stock barrel connector and run it through the hole in the tour pak and attach it to the connector. pull all the wires neat, checking for clearance with the saddle bags, don't pinch the wires.
right were the Bundle was, there is a free 4-prong connector, that is the run/brake power take off for the TP if it had lights.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  Looks like Harley was thinking ahead leaving extra antenna cable.  I'll post pics tonight.

I had an internal fairing antenna installed.   Left the TP antenna mount attached (black on black blends in). I might remove it if and when I paint the TP.

If you order the King Tourpac for the CVO it comes undrilled, for the antenna, I put on a 6" Billet. I listen to my ipod most of the time anyway.

Here are the pics I promised.  Still haven't decided what to do with the antenna mount (DAMN IT, why didn't I tell the dealer to order with no holes drilled?!?)

This is a tour pac for a Pewter Pearl 09 Street Glide for $749.

that's the best option for Radio only, I have the factory CB installed on my SERG and need the external antenna for it.

Agreed.  If I end up re-painting the TP, I'll change the hinges.
