Red Devil is correct.  I do have a 2003 Suzuki Volusia (they were re-branded in 2005 as Boulevards).  I bought it last summer and it is my first cruiser.  I also have a 150 cc scooter in the garage ... but that's another story.

I want to reiterate that I really appreciate the really good advice on a possible purchase.  You guys are great!  I better understand what it means to be a member of the Harley family just from your posts.  I think I probably already have the itch.  But I just can't get past the fact that it is a buyer's market; for me, the purchase has to make economic sense in light of market conditions.  But like I said in my last post, I am optimistic.

On another note, I went on my first poker run this afternoon and had a blast.  Thr fundraiser for Vietnam Veterans went through western Iowa near Omaha/Council Bluffs.  My guess it that there were about 180 bikers participating.  About 95% of them were HD riders.  The group in which I rode had 10 bikes, all HD's except mine.  They made me feel very welcome nonetheless.

Question:  What is a "bagger man"?

What's an Ultra Glide?    Are you talking about the Electra Glide Ultra Classic? (Just one of the three Electra Glides:  Standard, Classic, and Ultra Classic)

Yes, you are specifically correct.

it is all the Electra Glide family with variations .

because of the "Street and Road" Glides,  (which are different from the Electra Glides)I have a tendency to call them the "Glide" Family

Most here know that a "bagger" and a FD (full dresser) are not the same.

FD's are all Baggers, but unless your bagger has a tour pack and a Fairing it is not considered a full dresser.

This is common knowledge to all of the veterans here (so do not pound me for explaining 2+2=4)

I am just getting some terms straight for newer riders.

During the past years when it was a supply and demand thing and many dealers charged over MSRP, potential buyers would take the attitude that they would never pay over MSRP and consequently didn't buy.  The same thing can happen if you have the attitude that you can't see paying MSRP in these economic times.  Please do not let that type of emotion get in the way of your enjoyment.  If you can't do the 20 grand thing, do as others suggest, buy a used low miler and ride.

Sorry, that statement and HD do not go together, trust me, good luck on your hunt and ride on!  There are used deals to be found.

Screamin's hit it dead center.    For some reason, HD dealers don't follow the mainstream dealers or the economic times.  Like Screamin said, most of them have just gone from over MSRP to MSRP now.  I guess they feel that there's still enough of a market out there and because of the marquee effect of the brand, they can wait to sell at MSRP, and some probably went out of business because of that attitude.  To buy at what you feel may make economic sense in light of current market conditions, may result in you not getting a new HD.  I still highly recommend you go out and get a good used one.  You can always trade that in later on a new one (like a CVO) if you want.  There are plenty of good deals to be had on the used market, plus you'll more than likely get to save some accessory money because most used bikes will have been upgraded by the previous owners.   Just my $0.02.  If you really want an HD, you'll get one.
