OK, there's this movie where two groups of hunters meet each year and attack each other.  I forget how/why it started (maybe accidental?), but it gathers steam every year.  More and more sophisticated and planned out, until finally in the end one group is ambushed and completely obliterated by the other (hiding in the snow).  Anyone remember this movie?  I've been looking for it for years, and can't remember the title to save me.

I did a google on Shoot, that might be it!!  True not exactly like I remembered (33 years ago) but seems right.  Do you remember the snow scene at the end?  THAT was amazing - totally unexpected, and I know I remember that part right.

(if that's it, now I need to find a copy.  n/a on Netflix)

Guess I not need to see it now. Thanks for spoiling it for us.

Was that movie called Shoot.  Look it up on the TBS archives.

Deer Hunter was best movie when I was a kid and I remember seeing it many times on TBS.  It had Robert DeNiro and Chistropher Walken in it.  That wasn't about hunting as much as it was how emotionally destroyed our men came home.  Wasn't the big scene where Walken blows his brains out playing Russian roulette?

I know, I thought about that.  Doesn't matter, it's going to be hard to find.  Plus, you still won't realize what the deal is until after it happens.  I love this movie!  Guess I'm a bit twisted.

Pretty sure it's not Deer Hunter.   Darn pretty sure it's Shoot from what I could read online + one short trailer.

Derivative of the John Boorman action thriller Deliverance (1972), this grim, ostensibly socially-conscious parable is at its best moments disturbing, and at its worst, absurd. Cliff Robertson stars as Rex, a gun enthusiast and military veteran who, with his buddies Lou (Ernest Borgnine) and Zeke (Henry Silva), stalks wild game in the forest. It's a weekend ritual that Rex in particular eagerly anticipates, as he is bored and disillusioned with his marriage and career. After a frustrating day that's left them empty-handed, however, the party comes to a river. Another band of hunters appears on the other side, menacingly staring them down. Suddenly a gun goes off, and Zeke retaliates by shooting and killing one of the men on the other riverbank. After an exchange of gunfire, Rex and his friends win the skirmish, driving their attackers off. Deciding to keep the incident a secret from the police, they round up a posse of friends and pursue the other hunters through the woods in a bloody mini-war that only the reasonable Lou seems to question. Shoot also bears some passing similarity to a later and far superior film, Southern Comfort (1981). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Well Geez, reading that makes the entire movie seem trivial.  I was traumatized the first time I saw Deliverance.  How could that be a derivative of Deliverance?  Being shot by a bunch of men could not have been near as horrifying as being made to squeal like a pig!  I can't believe they even labeled it as that!

It's nothing like Deliverance if you ask me.  That's just critics trying to categorize it.  It's like nothing else I've ever seen -- an underrated classic (to me anyway).

Now if I can just find a copy............................

If you can't find one, let me know and I'll shoot an email off to a friend that is GM of a chain of theatres.  They have their sources!

OK, before I shell out the bucks, can someone confirm that this is the movie with the snow scene at the end?

Here's the only trailer I could find on Youtube by name.  Does this look vaguely familiar?  If so, hold on.  I think I found a DVD.

Here ya go!  The movie on DVD for cheaper than you can buy a used VHS.  From the cover, it looks like it ends in snow!
