I tried to order the new tour pack rack with the new quick detach hardware and I'm told by surdyke that the hardware is no longer available. Do I not need it? 04 SEEG. I thought it would click right on but thought to order the hardware anyways.

CVO, the 05 bikes had all the forward and rear detachable points already installed on the bike.  So if you got a complete detachable rack you should be good to go without needing any other hardware.  Can an 04 owner pipe in to say whether all the detachable points are on your bikes stock?

Yes, please! I just got done ordering some other docking hardware. I'll cancel the order if I dont need it.

The 2004s did NOT come with the rear docking kit required to add the tourpac...at least mine didn't!

Mine did not come that way either.Dealer had to order a docking kit.Parts guy did it over last winter. [smiley=pumpkin.gif]

If you bought a detachable tour pak rack in 2004 it is no longer available.  The 2004 version required a rear docking point be added.  The front docking point was the same as the detachable back rest that is stock.  Below is the list of components I bought in 2004 for my bike.

The 2005 FLHTSCE has a different docking system for its detachable tour pak.  That detachable hardware replaced the version above.  The newer system has the same rear docking point, but the front docking point is different.  The 2005 came with all the docking points installed for either the tour pak or the backrest.  The front and rear docking point for the tourpak would need to be added if you wanted a detachable tour pak for your 2004 bike now.  According to the H-D website this is what is needed for the detachable tour pak rack now.

The difference between the way the tour pak is attached to a frame that you then attach to your bikes between 04 and 05 was also discussed here.  My husband was lucky enough to be able to get what had been available in 04 switched out under warranty for the 05 version.  All you folks with the 04 versions, check your rack for any problems.

CVO, you will  need the rear docking hardware(docking point 1) I used part #53127-96B and front docking hardware(docking point 2) I used part  #53746-97 For a picture look in 06 hd cataloge pg 401 docking points  looks like they combined these two parts into one. part #53804-06. Hope this helps. If you want I can take a pic of mine and post.
