Like so many others I ordered the solo tour pak rack 53260-09 for my 09 FLRTSE3, and was one of the first to find out it could not be installed without it taking the paint off the inner fender covers. (I am supposed to receive the redesigned rack  & new filler covers "down the road)  HD notified

As I ride one up, (as many of  us do) I also have the standard tour pak rack kit 53276-09, and use a solo seat, and as I get ready for a trip I install the standard  tour pak rack 53276-09 & then try to install the luggage rack 54213-09 to set my T bag on, (it uses different mounting points than the tour pak) and of course it WILL NOT fit with the tour pak rack, about 1/2 inch off.  So having said on this , nothing fits with anything else in their mounting system. You would have thought that they could have figured that out as they were designing these items. 

You are bunch of clever guys, has anyone figured out a way to use both the standard tour pack rack with the luggage rack so one can set the T bag on it???

I love MOCO but sometimes I really wonder if they are not just losing touch with how thier products are used.

Every Friday Willie G. and the design boys meet in what they call "The Design Bunker". Most of the employees at the Development Center call it "The Bong Room" because with some of the chit that comes out of that room they figure there's gotta be a crack pipe involved. Might explain the problems with the rack incompatibilities. Or not.

The cynical side of me says they make nothing compatible on purpose, so that we have to keep buying more stuff... naw, they wouldn't do that.

Mine is at the Dealer now having the inner fender covers replaced for just that reason, the solo tour pack rack hitting.  They are covering it, but I have explained it will happen again with out a redesign of the rack.

Did the MoCo tell you the new solo rack is on the way, or ordered, or?  I've been waiting to raise hell until the new rack was designed.  What did you do to get "notified"?

From my conversations with my dealer, & from the conversations they had with MOCO, (which I was not a part of)  I am to receive new inter fender covers & the new redesigned solo tour pak rack when it is available which I anticipate will be at least a year.  So having said all that, get into the dealer, get a commtment for the inter covers & (AND) the redesigned solo tour pak rack.  Because, as you know,  with out the new rack you are wasting your time replacing the inter covers.
