Mamma got hot---heat deflectors
« on: June 26, 2009, 09:47:35 PM »

Went for a ride with my wife today at 90 degrees and she really complained of hot legs and thighs on the right side (and it wasn't from doing the hokey pokey). I've seen the smoke plastic heat deflectors on some bikes.  Do they work? Who makes them? Where can I get a pair?

Harley makes the black plastic that are std on an Ultra.  Kuryakyn makes them in smoke.  RJOriginals makes them in leather.

I have the Kuryakyn on my 110.

they move the heat lower

my upper inner thigh use to roast now the heat hits lower on my calfs

much better than the roasted chestnuts.

I had the same problem.
I installed the HD ones yesterday. It took 15 min. to do so. They look good and did the job. BSR was very happy.

Look good, on a SERG? I'd hardley think so. I held one of those up to my Grey Ghost and said No Way. Look like chit. the Kury ones look much better. but, so far, I haven't needed them. This is all just my opinion of course

I had the smoked ones on my 03 RD, just tried them on the 09, won't fit.  Guess I'll go to the Kury store in Daytona.  The old ones worked real good, I would like to put them on the new bike, any heat re-direction could help.  It is hot enough here in Florida even without the motor heat.

Maybe they would look better with some chrome trim?

Expecting the heat, I put the H. D. ones on my SERG as accessory # 2. I think they look fine and seem to work well. The other evening on a cool ride home the Mrs. let me know she wished we had taken the '05 SEEG because it was warmer.

Screamin I ran into the same issue last night on a cool ride. My daughter was cold and gave me chit for having them on. The day before it was hot and she was happy they were there.
I have the HD ones also and I dont mind the look of them. Better if I didn't have to have them but in 90 degree heat in town they are a must have on my Serg.

I like the look of the HD parts for the '09's best. They paint up slick.

I used the Kuryakyn set on my 00' SERG. They looked great and was an absolute must when I had the lowers on in the summer. Actually I had the Hoppe vents in my lowers and the Kuryakyn heat defelectors and Still had to take the lowers off in the summer. The RG fairing just blocks so much air. The heat deflectors helped the burning leg problem, but was not the cure all.

Larry,
Paint looks even better slick and smooth on inside of the lowers, I know you have lowers, get the inside painted, major improvement.

mine are painted, flat black, but they do get messed up from my boots.
So far, I have not had any need for the mid frame air deflectors, even in the high temps.
