Good to know there's a way to tell...the bump.  When I go check out my newly arrived ride, I'll be sure and "feel" and not just look.  Personally, I wouldn't have an problem with the stripe being a slightly different thickness than the surrounding paint.  Glad to know it's lookin' good for you Gator!!!

Spoke to the Customer Care guys today.  They were very aware of the issue and scheduled me a visit from the Rep tomorrow to review the bike.  So its off to Tilley's I go after work today. [smiley=banana.gif]

Appreciate all the leads guys.  In 6 weeks the "fog" will be lifted~ [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

Just a quick note the paint date was 04/27/06. If you check inside the bags and in my case outer fearing as well there is an inspection sticker which was signed off on with three differant initals and will give you the painted date.

Guys...this is an awesome site.  Took delivery of mine Feb. 24, 2006.  I have never been happy with my tank paint.  Looks gray compared to other parts.  Check out the pics.  Think I have a problem?

From the photos, I would say you got a problem for sure.  Looks like some of the other photos on this thread.  Hope you get it resolved.

You DO HAVE bad paint.  I had 3 sets that looked just like yours,, and my Dealer would NOT accept any of them for me.  I hope  your Dealer helps you get a new, GOOD set!!   You can still enjoy  your ride until your NEW set gets here like I did.
    Good Luck,,,,,,,,

Gary ...thanks man!  Not looking forward to the hassle.  Spoke with my dealer (Service Manager) here today in Sarasota, FL.  Said they have never heard of this issue.  Asked that I bring it in for pictures.  That will happen no later than this Sat 4.27.06.  All I want is the rest to look as good as the bag lids.  Thanks for the reply...here's another pic (saddle bag).  This just can't be the camera can it?  This one is crazy...Looking forward to all replies.

Hopefully your Dealer will do you right.  My original set that came on my bike was alot worse then yours,, mine had the Milk Dud look to them,, like alot of the other guys on here.  At least your BAD set has a little metalflake in the paint,, but WHEN you get your NEw set,,  you will see a BIG difference!!
     GOOD  LUCK ,,,,,,,,,

Oh yeah, you have a claim! I just looked at mine again tonite and have the same bad parts. I'll be taking mine to my local dealer here next week. Assuming I'm going to get the runaround and head scratching but hoping for the best. Good luck to you!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Dropped mine off last night.  The MoCo rep will be in today to confirm and approve the new parts.  Customer Care was very aware and (so far) helpful.  The real truth will be told after today.

It sounds like they know they are going to replace some parts.  The latest rumor for the 07 CUSE is the new color is going to be "Hot Cocoa".  They will have plenty of parts for the run!  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

JDawg,
Get that stuff to the dealer right away.  If your dealer is worth a crap,  you'll get new paint.  Tell them that you want to see the new parts before they install them,  I've seen replacement parts as bad as the origionals....

Good Luck

I originally posted on this thread that I did not have paint problems and that was true under the flourescent light in my garage...after paying close attention to this and looking at it under full sunlight I can see a HUGE difference in my bags and inner and outer fairings...I have looked into this thread to try to figure out how the best way to handle this is but it has gotten so long it is hard to understand. Can anyone tell me how I should handle this...I am positive that my dealer is not going to know anything about this since I bought the one and only CUSE that they were given. Is there any information besides this thread that I can offer them when explaning the problem and solution?

I, too, originally stated in this thread I had no paint problems. In reading these posts and getting a better understanding of the problem I came to realize my paint is flawed. I don't think it's as bad as some of the photos I've seen here but it is definitely noticable. I took it into the dealer yesterday to get their reaction. It was a sunny day. As soon as he looked at the saddlebags he commented "oh, yeah, that's two different colors." And when he looked closely at the rest of the bike he agreed all parts with stripes had a cloudy look compared to parts without stripes.

I explained to him what I'd learned from this thread, thanks to you all for your extensive footwork. He told me he would submit a claim and get back to me.

My bike is the "watermelon" (black emerald/majestic green pearl) color. I think the (intended) colors are awesome! I haven't noticed many watermelon bikes with the paint problem. Anyway, I'm hoping the dealer will not have any problems getting this resolved now that it appears the MoCo is making efforts to correct it. I'll keep my fingers crossed and wait to see what they say.
