I've been told by a guy I work with whose son works at the KC plant, that the MOCO is going to start performing all thier painting in-house, even on the CVO bikes. That, over the last few years, they have had too many problems with contractor painting firms, and too many complaints from customers on poor quality paint jobs. They can not control the quality, like they want from using the outside painting contractors.

If you look in the Job Opportunities section on the Harley web  site, It seems that they are hiring paint engineers and supervisors at the plant in York. HMMMMMM? I wonder why? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

You're right VGirl, my wife is a heck of a painter. Sometimes after she finishes the mowing and cleaning, she is too tired to paint, I just give her a glass of water and send her anyway. She knows that I can't watch TV and eat junk food unless she has the work done...DUH!

HeHe...Nice thread-jack on a very serious issue for some of us. Lets get back to buisness, shall we?, (Leave it to a girl to get the whole train derailed off the track)  ;D

Talked to John Selensky this morning, he said they have a new set of ALL new painted parts with the correct colors for me.   He said 4-6 weeks, and to have The dealer I want to install them to call him and verify, so there are no more delays.

This is great news and Shows that Someone at MoCo cares.

Okay, I am confused [smiley=nixweiss.gif]????? Just got off the phone with MoCo. Michelle knew nothing about a new process in June. Do I have to call John Selensky to get all new parts? They told my dealer to do buffing. Can someone post John number. Thanks

Cigarmike did he say they where going to let this info out to the dealers?  Or just to those that scream?  Guess what I mean is did he say they where doing a recall of the paint on all the bikes or just a few.

I took from my conversation with John as a ' Those who are not happy with their paint WILL get it replaced. He didnt say there was a recall or wasnt a recall. He did say he was pleased that The higher ups made this decision. They changed the paint specs, and he was told 4-6 weeks they will start sending out parts that are painted correctly, to those who have a ref. #.

Johns number 1-414-343-4056......press option 4, then option 4,....then option 3. He is the one who usually picks up when I call. He is also the one who has been on our side the whole time with this issue. He should be the one who moves up the ladder in MoCo. eventually, very customer oriented.

And yes, I have screamed and wrote letters, and made a lot of calls. But Im not the only one, so I think they have heard us.

Talked with John Selensky this morning. He confirmed with me that new painted parts would be ready in 4-6 weeks. He said he was calling my dealer and telling them the same thing right after he talked to me. Sounds like we're on our way. Good news [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

He also told me they were replacing front fender, tank, outer fairing, and saddle bag lowers. Said they shoud be perfect match with other parts. After I hung up I realized he did not mention side covers. Will have to question that.

All I can say is WOW, guys!

I am new to the forum, just picking up my bike on March 15. It was shipped on March 7th I believe.  I have only about 500 miles on it, have waxed it in the sun and cleaned it a few times.  I did not notice any color issues, but when I read this lengthy thread (on break, of course) today I freaked out!!

Rushed home and pulled out the bike into the sun and can't see any of the issues detailed here.  Is the match perfect, not really but I would never have voiced any complaint.  Of course it has only seen a few hours of sun, as most of my riding has been at night (work sucks this time of year).

Now I will be in a panic until I get to see it Saturday in the midday sun (please don't rain).  The flashlight trick does not seem to show anything beyond a slight difference in metalflake between the side and top of one bag.  The front and inner seem to match nearly perfectly, nothing like the photo shown previously.  I will borrow a digital camera and see if I can get some pics to show it if it really matches as good as it seems to.  Some asked to see one.

Other than this potential issue this bike was delivered to me in absolutely flawless condition.  One might say for the money it should be, but I am so far totally pleased.  This is only my third Harley, and I am a reborn rider for just 10 years now.  I truly hope I am not in store for a rude awakening.  Wish me luck!

Quick question- How do you get a reference number? Do you need to call John? or Who?
