Talked with John Selensky this morning. He confirmed with me that new painted parts would be ready in 4-6 weeks. He said he was calling my dealer and telling them the same thing right after he talked to me. Sounds like we're on our way. Good news [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

He also told me they were replacing front fender, tank, outer fairing, and saddle bag lowers. Said they shoud be perfect match with other parts. After I hung up I realized he did not mention side covers. Will have to question that.

Cigarmike, Skylane, All - May I make a suggestion?  Use both the good and the bad to your advantage PUBLICLY!  Take your complaints from this site and go to other forums where there is a broader customer base.  Ask Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki owners if they've had similar problems, how warranty issues were handled and how the manufacturer resolved their issues.  After a day or two, go back on and post the "news" from John Selensky.  The old saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the oil," is very true.  However, the squeaky wheel that gets the oil and then goes on to make them looks good, keeps it!!!

As a 20-year-veteran of administrative software, I've found the more public the problem, the quicker the "fix."  The more public the "fix" and the better the PR spin on "customer service and satisfaction," the more consistent the product AND the communication will be in the future.  This technique has gotten me "invited" to more advisory committees than I care to mention, but has also given the software manufacturer what they see as an ally.  Everyone complains!  If you do so justifiably, you'll earn a response.  If you come back and give them kudos PUBLICLY, you'll earn their respect as well as their trust!

Sorry to derail the train again!

Called in to HD customer service this morning. Spoke to Deborah- She acknowledged the issue "milky paint issue", told me to get my butt over to the dealer for them to take pictures to email her...Said she would call the dealer to let them know I was coming and call me back. We'll see...

[smiley=drink.gif] You guys did all the hard work- THANKS. MOCO are (so far) really responsive....but we'll see

She also uncovered an error in the documentation- My VIN was wrong on my paperwork vs the bike [smiley=nervous.gif] a "..PRE336 vs PRE316"- Time to call Progressive....

My bike is in for its 1650mile service...I pointed out the paint issue to the service manager and asked him to initiate the process...bottom line I wanted is all the painted parts to match...and NOT the milky color!

I have not called HD Customer Service.

I will wait until I hear back from the dealer.

Just a few notes....I got my Ref. # in the beginning by calling MoCo customer care (Which is the same number as the one posted earlier for John) But thats because my pos dealer where I bought the bike didnt want to help me after helping me out of the 35k I had in my hand to purchase said bike. After numerous problems (not just Paint)  with Bob Drons Oakland HD, I switched dealers to have any work done. I would like to think that most Dealerships are better than the one I bought my bike at, and will handle getting you a ref.# and doing the phone calls to MoCo for you. So, Id give your dealership a chance to do it first if you do not have a ref.# as of yet.

As far as them offering  buffing out, Maybe thats the first step in the fix process once you first bring it to anyones attention with HD?, I dont know,no one ever offered to buff my bike out, but I think thats because the dealership buffed it out before putting it in the back corner of the showroom floor pre-sale, I have swirl marks all over and even scratches where someone attempted to color sand the lower bages, and then a few places where they overbuffed and burnt the lowers with the buffer. I know of 3 people who have told me that while the bike was sitting on the salesfloor, that they informed The sales staff that the paint was bad. Yet Drons figured they'd ruin their reputation by trying fraud to sell a bike instead of disclosing the paint to a loyal customer...........Mission completed. I have cost them 3 sales of new scooters in 2 months, I hope to get the debt of graditude I owe them paid in full in the next couple years...I figure 35 lost sales or so would make us about even.

I cant relay how stressfull this paint issue has been for me, cant speak for anyone else, but Im so happy knowing that they are going to do the right thing and we all get what we paid for now. Hearing from both John and the Desk girl at McGuires HD say," dont worry, all will be well", is such a relief, ...Plus, now, I dont have to wash or wax my bike for 4-6 weeks !!! lol. Whats the point??

Well, Its going to be in the high 70's today, after all this rain lately, I let the guys have the day off, and Im going for a long azz ride.

I talked to John this morning real nice guy.  He said I would get new paint about the end of June.  He said they where using a different process and less clear coats.  He said all parts would match.  Funny though no mention of side covers?   Just front fender, outer fairing, tank & saddlebag lowers.

I checked out the Dron's page on this site...They really do sound like a bunch of arrogant a$$holes!!! It's amazing that they can stay in business with all the bad reports they get!

[size=18]Go give 'em a hell of a report Cigarmike[/size] >:(  ;) [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Well, 3 weeks ago my dealer (who has been very good) told me that the moco will have a solution and take care of the paint issues within 60-90 days. After reading the post on this site I had him call the moco for an update and he was told that they are now going to do NOTHING. He was upset and so was I. So I called John. (Side note: John knew all about the paint issues, asked from "what cvo site" got his number and seemed like a good guy. He seems to have his be up front and actually give a damn.) Cut to the chase....John told me I would have my new pained parts in 4 to 5 weeks. It seems everyone you talk to has a different story, so I will let you all know what happens in 4-5 weeks. BTW I only asked for bags and a tank, my other parts are fine.

I had the SEUC into the shop to look over the paint.  Like others the service mgr. contacted his rep and was told to order the parts and be aware that the issue is all about the depth of the clear.  The new parts will not be smooth over the stripes (as discussed in detail here).

He wanted to convey that the decision to replace the parts is up to me and that I would feel the striped lips.  Evidently some rider(s) have turned down the replacements due to the ridge/lip.  Hell, stripes have lips in my opinion, if the paint is as good looking as my non-striped parts who cares?

New parts are ordered.  Oh, I didn't prompt any of this conversation it was all info from the mgr and the rep.  They are fully aware of the issue at the MoCo and it sounds to me like they are standing behind the product.  We'll see how the replacements are but I am thinking they'll be great.

That's some good news, R...hope mine's got the new paint process on her so I won't have to go through what you have!  At least the MOCO has finally stepped up to the plate for their most dedicated customers... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
