Eagle Rider one-way deals
« on: June 30, 2009, 06:55:32 AM »

Not sure if you all have ever seen this so I thought I would share. Eagle Riders motorcycle rental offers pretty sweet deals on one way trips in the spring and fall to get their inventory from North to South and back again. It's a great opportunity to take a one way trip for a very reasonable rate and drive a nice bike wherever you want. You don't have to go from point A to point B directly as you have unlimited miles, you just have to pay the daily rate ($49 or $59/day depending on bike). Good way to road test that HD model or Gold Wing or BMW.

I am in no way affiliated with Eagle Rider. Just rented from them once and made their mailing list.

Imho, for the price of shipping, they should be willing to contract qualified folks to run these back for nothing and pay for the return airfare (cheap) as well. While it is a deal for those folks who happen to be going the same direction, one-way, I wonder how many are in that situation? Interesting nonetheless if they can actually get people to do this - never hurts to ask I guess.

Many of those are west to east.  They must have quite a busy location at Chantilly, Va and Rockville, Md.

I wonder if the rental business is a change for the dealerships as well?
Southside Harley-Davidson in Virginia Beach Va. has just become an Eagle Rider rental location. They also offer deals on picking up bikes in other locations and bringing them to Virginia Beach.
(They can be reached at 1-866-892-6990 or www.eagleridercva.com) There is also another location in Virginia -Velocity Motorcycle in Richmond.

Out here in LA we get a lot of riders from Europe and Asia wanting to ride Rte 66. The starting point is either LA or Chicago with a returning tour of riders bringing the bikes back. I see them all the time. Mostly Germans and French with a few Spaniards. They love to see the desert and get the feel of the Wil Wild West.
