Just install a Pure Power Life Time Oild Filter. Droped my oil temp 15 to 25 Deg. They claim that it will also give you 4 Hp and 3 Tq. Spendy but worth the cost. 12.00 for a stock filter after so many changes it will pay of itself. Well today its 90 here in NM and I went dor a 45 mile ride checked the temp on the LED dipstick and it read 199 deg.

You put it on too tight.  Loosen it and you get 8HP and 10Ft.Lbs. of Torque.  Please DO NOT follow my instructions or make assumptions that an oil filter can make your bike perform better.

I'll happily tell you the theory behind increased power due to an oil filter change.  Look closely at their other claims, such as the drastically higher flow rate.  A higher flow rate means the filter has less resistance to flow.  Less resistance to flow comes about due to less effective filtration, as in bigger passages in the filter media.  Less resistance could theoretically result in a reduction of power required to run the oil pump, thus the claimed power gain.  I personally don't believe their 5 hp claim for a second, but I would be happy to withdraw that statement if a truly independent testing lab could verify it.  I'm not going to hold my breath however.

If you want to carry this to the logical conclusion, someone who wants more power should just buy a filter housing without any filter media or drainback valve or bypass valve or anything at all in it.  That would result in the lowest resistance to flow and thus the lowest power consumption.  The fact that it wouldn't filter any of the crap out of the oil isn't too big of a deal, is it?

somebody, may have been american iron, did a test of this filter several years ago...it did in fact make several more horsepower, but I, like you am certain that means less filtration and therefore more engine wear...good luck if this is the way you chose to go.

The above is from their web site, the red highlighting is mine.  Pretty slick how this thing also improves fuel mileage and lowers emissions as well.  Unfortunately they don't offer any proof or an explanation of how that works.

As compelling as the claims might be, I'm still planning to stick with my good ol' K&N oil filter.  Of course, if they do further testing and determine this thing will cure baldness and BPH then all bets are off, I'm kissing the K&N good bye.

gonna have to tell ya fellas I have one on my glide and no dyno runs on this bike before and after but It came off my RK and I did see a before and after on that one ( yes I was actually there for the whole thing) It was a 7hp improvement dont remember the tq # .  but it is $200 !!!! ouch !
