I have an 09 Ultra Classic, I went with Vance & Hines basic slip on's, Power commander 5, and sreamin eagle high flow air cleaner.  I am very happy with the way the bike sounds & performs, the pipes are not so loud that I can't hear the radio, they  are just right for me.   The pipes were $340.00  the power commander was $299.00 and the air cleaner was $129.00.  Joeymaq  :pepper:

I am new to the Forum,

I just bought a 09 SE road glide and love the bike and how it rides, I hate the sound of the SE pipes, I was thinking about the reinharts or the crushers, not sure which would be better.  One of the other links said you should always use a PC if you replace the mufflers and also mentioned changing the air cleaner.

I am new to all this and am look for as much help as i can get before i waste any money.

thanks

The SERG already has the hi-flo air cleaner on it.  I would highly recommend getting a 4" muffler for the SERG though.  Rineharts are great mufflers, but only 3 1/4" and will look small in the cutouts in the back.  I'm replace the stock mufflers on my SESG with the 4" Vance and Hines Basic Slipons.  They sound great and are a good price at $350 for the pair.  If you want to retain the 2 into 1 into 2 look, some of the folks that have SERGs have replaced the header pipes with the CAT in them to the non-CVO 2-into-1-into-2 header pipes without the CATs.   Yes you will need to reprogram the ECM, either via a PC, Super SERT, or something similar.  By putting on freer flowing mufflers, your bike will run leaner than it already is without retuning.

i think the real answer depends upon what you really want

sound?
power?
looks?
is the warranty important or not?
is money no object?

the catalytic converter is a emissions control device that in 09's is only on the cvo bikes - from 10 on its on all bikes & can be a choke point for high flow at high speeds.
sound? if you just want louder - get fulsacs
power? if you want power get fulsacs and take the cat out of the header
warranty? despite some arguments to the contrary - put non legal exhaust on and the engine warranty is void period. the rest of the bike warranty will still be good but the engine warranty will go out the window.
change the air cleaner - then you want tts, or super sert - if you want to use PC you need to use the version with auto tune or you will be seriously bummed out.
looks? see above - dual exhaust for example actually lowers torque in the 2k to 3k range so its a bad choice unless you drive 90 all the time.

the 09 non cat header is nearly as good as anything you can get for under 900 bux - fulsacs in the stock muffler body is about as good as you can get and its only about 200 bux shipped. after that its all show and slow and spending money for looks and sound. which is cool - just dont think that a quick pipe change will make your bike way faster, it wont. typically these days cams and tuner software will actually provide a bigger bang for the buc and are invisible.

keep in mind - if warranty and money are no object then do whatever you want - but it will need a tuner and a tune if you change the air cleaner at all.

Not necessarily true  In order for the warranty to be voided, it has to be proven that the installed part caused the failure. In other words, if your crankshaft scissors, it would be very hard to prove that the exhaust caused the problem.  If you have a good dealer and they do the installs for you, there's a good chance you won't have any problems.  If all you're going to do is replace the exhaust and do a proper retune, you should be okay warranty-wise.  (now if you live in California, all bets are off.)

I finally got my bike home from the dealer, had the paint protection put on before I would drive it. Drove me crazy for a week. I got her home and put on the Klockwerks revolver slipons. Easy mod, looks and sounds great. I post some pics as soon as I learn how too upload them. Havin some problems with that.
