Some interesting reading........   http://mrzip66.com/2009/04/20/route-from-the-movie-easy-rider-map/

Interesting.......shows a clip from the movie, then the same location today......from start to finish.

Another interesting resource for insights about this movie is the book "Don't Tell Dad" by Peter Fonda. He writes a lot about this era, his family, and the making of the movie. As you can tell by my avatar the movie didn't influence me much. Yes thats really me.  ;)  Doc

Amazingly over the years I have ridden most of those areas from California to New Mexico and never knew they were part of the filming locations.

They did the filming at 30 mph because in those days everything would get blurred out if done faster. In the book Fonda said those apes tore him up so bad after a day shoot that he couldn't reach and pick up a beer at the end of the day. I'm good for about a half hour these days before my hands go knumb, the old pump and pipes arn't rated for that much rise anymore.  ;)   Doc

Oh yeah, apes on a hardtail with forward controls and no front brake. Not exactly the most comfortable way to ride cross country. But is sure does look cool.

...and the trend those days was to wear bell bottom jeans or better known as "bee catchers".   :'(   Doc

Didn't it say that Fonda wanted the leathers to look "well worn" so he washed them. That caused the dye to bleed and he ended up with dye colored legs and all.
